Default Amp impedance

I'm not sure if I should run my amp at 1.6 ohms or .4 ohms. Each coil has a resistance of 1.6 ohms. Right now I have my amp at 1.6 ohms and at tuning I was measuring ~1.7 ohms. Is it worth the extra strain on the amp for the extra power.

This is a daily system btw

Subs: Fi BL 15" Fully Loaded (supposedly, they were also supposed to be dual 1 but it seems more like they're dual 2)
Box: 8ft^3 after all displacements @ 33hz
Amp: AQ 2200D
Electrical: 200A alt, 165Ah of battery

You're measuring DCR instead of impedance. Since ohm load is variable with frequency, heat and voltage, the average of that coil is what they give you. If you ordered a DVC 1 woofer, then you have a DVC1 woofer. Not a DVC2.

Since that amp is stable to 1 ohm. You don't have much of a choice but to wire it to 2 ohms like this:

Anything lower, and you risk voiding the warranty on the amplifier.

I have two subs btw, forgot to mention that.

The reason I said are supposedly dual 1 is because the guy I bought them from used said they were dual 1, I'm thinking he may have been wrong.

Alright, I'll keep it at wired where I had it, 1.6 ohms DCR with the lowest impedance (I measured) at 1.7 ohms. I didn't think about the warranty, I'd rather keep that available to me.

That said, could I try it at the lower impedance for an hour safely? Just curious would the extra power could bring me.

If all the coils are reading 1.7 ohms, they're probably Dual 2 ohm subs (I retract my previous one ohm sub idea). Either way, you still don't have an ideal ohm load for that amp.

Whether it be 1 hour or 15 minutes, if your voltage drops low enough you can very easily cook that amp and possibly the subs. Not worth it, imo.
