Default My sons & my project '96 Suburban

Not much to show right now. Been gathering parts for months. Still need some engine, trans & suspension parts. Redoing the interior & going to be repainting the exterior.

My son is 10, has been helping me for years with things. This will be his first audio build. So far with this ride he has helped my take apart the cylinder heads & polish the metal brackets & such. Clean up the carpet, install the shifter & other misc stuff. This truck spent most of it's life running The Darien Gap, so needless to say IT WAS FILTHY(will post the cleaning pics later)

The 'Burb far not a high end build. Just a good fun build. Bought for $1200 & drove it home. Just going for some Power & torque, little bit of boom with some video thrown in.

Amps, speakers & Subs cost me under $1000.
Just some PPI & JBL stuff.

Anyway here are a few pics. Will add more as I get more organized.

few more pics from today. No the board is not final. Will finish it when I redo the rear cargo. I have A LOT of Black & dark grey vinyl.

90% of this is his work. From making sure the Amps are even & separated correctly, drilling the pilot holes for screws & mounting them. I just cut the wires.

Looks good so far. That's cool that you're having your son help you with this. He's learning some cool, useful stuff.

Thanks.
I have him help me with everything. Tiling, electrical, painting(house).
Heck, he did his first oil change at 2 years old. He was helping me repair corvette headlights when he was still in diapers.

I am a disabled veteran & he has mild ADD so it helps us both. We are extremly close. Football, karate, guitar, drums, projects, gaming. You name it.
He just a few weeks ago started drinking coffee(only the way I make it though) It has greatly helped his ADD(he is FAR from hyper, so it helps give him a boost), but it is only 2 small cups a day AT MOST.

These are the rims he picked out for the build. Now I just need the $2300(with tires)...LOL

Some more pics.
I am getting rid of the TBI.
It has a 350 SBC w/700R4 & Bowtie Overdrives kit on it. B&M shifter everything wired up proper so I have functioning reverse lights & NSS.
Converted to a Double Din, added aftermarket headlights(taillights soon).

Double Din in progress.

Only going to use 3 subs for right now.

Amp board will be at roughly a 60 degree angle. Going to be covering everything with dark grey vinyl.

Yup, a basic 4.5 cu ft sealed. Simple enclosure. Easy for my son to cut out & assemble. making another is not a big deal. Just getting him used to his circ saw, measurements, etc.

Thanks all.

Looks great... Its really nice that your really close to your son. There are way to many out there that either don't have a father, or the father could care less.
