Default IB musings

Waiting on an earthquake db-12 to show up on my front porch. While waiting, I'm trying to figure out what to do about the box. Here are the specs:

sealing a baffle in my trunk is gonna be an absolute pain in the ass thanks to the design of my 95 Taurus, I can't afford to buy a pre-fab box or have a custom one built, and it would seem my 1.25 cubic foot box is too small for decent output. I'm willing to do the work to seal up a baffle, but I'm not sure if it's the route I wanna go or not. Seems like I might be givin up some output if I went IB over enclosing the woofer. If I did decide to go IB, would I get better output with the sub firing through the rear deck or shooting through the foam seat-back? Help me out, bassheads.

Default Re: IB musings

I go against the grain, I am all for IBing the trunk off if you seal it well using lots of PL PRO and Great Stuff expanding foam..and I don't care if you have an "IB" driver "made for IB in car" or not... but take what I say with a grain of sault. I am also all for sticking a port(s) in there and getting even more gains...but like I said, I do things the not so wright way

If the sub is made for ib go for it.
on the othe hand if you are going to be able to get some cash a little later on. If the sub you are getting is brand new breaking it in withe the smaller enclosure should be fine and hold you over until you get thae cash for a replacement.keepihg off the Power i dont see a issue
