Default Big Sealed box?

I am thinking about sealing my 6 cu ft box up to get better SQ beause Im not realy happy with it right now but I have never seen a realy big sealed box... Anybody ever made or heard a big sealed box before? what should I expect? I know I will lose some loudness but Im not realy sure how much. Right now the box is ported with (2) 4" aeroports and I think my box is too big to just have used (2) 4" ports I think (4) 4" ports would have been much better but there is no room to add more ports now so this is the only other option I can think of.

you might have better sq but not much, usally a sealed box is about 1.6 cu a chamber or per sub, but if you add or have 1 to 1.6 chambers then it would sound great. but without your bass will sound ****y and worster then now

I think I understand what you mean now... You mean that if the 2 subs share 1 big chamber then it will sound shytty but if I separate them and give them each a seperate chamber then it will sound good.

a 6 cuft box will be WAY too big for two sealed subs like that. if you go sealed youll get better sq, but youll need to make another box, somewhere around 2.5cuft for both subs.
and separating the subs, aka giving them their own chamber, will not improve the sq. the only benefit to that is if one sub blows the other will still be able to operate if theyre in their own chamber.

ya it would be easier just to build another box but u can use that box just have each chamber between 1 to 2.5 cubes

i thought by given the subs each chamber would increase the sq because of the tighter chambers for each subs would give the sq more deeper and cleaner bass then a open box

i did not know this unit bigben210tx said to edit lol sorry

eh, its good experience lol

but yea, the only way your going to get better sq is by building a new box basically.
and a sealed box will be much easier to make than a ported most likely

Yeah I love building boxes and its good experience & my dad just bought a new Ryobi table saw that is huge and it looks bad ass but I just cant keep building boxes every month... I will just seal it up and see what it sounds like. Is there a reason why a 6 cu ft sealed box wont sound good but a 3 cu ft sealed box will??

hm, its hard for me to explain but maybe someone can help me out.

basically the air inside the enclosure acts as a suspension for the subs cone...try to think about how the air inside the sealed box would "expand" and "contract" as the sub moves in and out. now think about how with a smaller box the tougher a suspension the air would provide, almost having it be stiffer. this allows the cone to move with a "tighter punch" and more accurately reproduce the music. however, think about how loose this suspension would be with a large amount of airspace, which wouldnt allow the sub to move in and out as fast.

i think that makes sense lol
