Default I Want my trunk to do da mashed potato while my 5th wheel does the twist

very few people will understand that but ...

Im talking IB. Is the soundsplinter RL S15 A GOOD SUB? All the numbers check out but have anyone used them for their IB? (i know most of you dont like them) but this is roE after all i think a xmax of 38.5 qualifies.
they take 1k-2k i dnt know which one ir the RMS proberbly the 1k but still...
The one thing i dont like is the single 3ohm vc. Im thinking about running two of them in a IB i have 12 cu ft to work with. they should kill lows with the epicenter

i searched but very few results

Thoughts please.

Dayton makes IB subs that are decent for the price.

Check out AE Speakers and the IB15. Very, very good IB sub.

DIYMA has a bunch of info on IB if you search.

The nature of IB doesn't allow a high power handling. In fact you are going to get less power handling and a little less output because of the IB setup. However, what you are gaining is flatter frequency response and low end extension. This is why it's a popular SQ configuration, hence DIYMA which is a more SQ oriented forum.

There is no reason the Dayton IB sub can't be used in a car.

Oh and that SS sub will work just fine.
It'd got a high enough qts.
Infact I would imaging that's what it's meant for.

You should make your text something a little more readable. I have a hard time reading what you posted.

i think ib is something that alot of us dont know a whole lot about but my only question is if the speaker is infinite baffle, then why do you say youre putting it in a box thats 12 cu. ft. I thought with ib the driver didnt need an enclosure at all. Like i said i really dont know anything about this but if you coud simplify it a little that would be great.

For any of the Dayton speakers, they are designed for a much larger enclosure. Would they work in a car, possibly, but there are better subs for the car. A true IB set does not have any enclosure for the speaker. In a car, it's more of a pseudo IB setup. If you are going to run WinISD numbers, your enclosure volume is your trunk volume. This will help you get an idea of frequency response. If you are wanting to know more about IB setup, checkout DIYMA.

Here is a discussion I started on what makes a good IB sub:
IB Speaker Specs - DIY Mobile Audio

I have done a bunch of research as I am going to go IB in my car when it warms up. I have decided the AE Speakers are the best solution for the price. Here's my build log on DIYMA:

OH thats how big my trunk is my trunk is 12 cubes and i plan on putting a baffle behind the back seat or where the back seat is and use the trunk as a sealed box

Good info, thanks.

I'm getting about 21 cuft for a maximally flat response for the Dayton IB driver, which I guess is a little more than what most trunks have. But by time you take cabin gain into account it does get pretty bloated in the low end. Anywho I guess it depends on who's trunk it's going in, I could probably get pretty close to 21cube in my intrepid, whereas your civic probably has much less. Another problem is getting 350Wrms at 8 ohms, but it shouldn't be too hard to find an amp capable of that. Too each their own. Either way it's hard to beat Daytons bang for the buck. Anyways I kinda derailed the thread...

To the OP I'd still say that SS sub you have will work well in the space you have. Don't worry about a single 3 ohm VC. Just find a 2 ohm stable amp, or a 3 ohm stable amp and you're fine. You won't need much power with an IB setup either.
