Re: Team RF 15s

Well if you can get them for $300 and sell them for $400, buy all of them on ebay and sell them to the shop.

Cap'n'Crunch i think i will get the team RFs...hell, i asked my local shop and they said that they would give $400 for a good used one (back up plan if i dont like them )

so i dont have much to loose...i will learn from my mistakes :gay theme song: :roll credits:

Saynkuck123 I have herd the Team RF woofer before in DD setups. I helped design the enclosure that the woofer went into. If you use the Team RF woofer its going have to be in a very larger enclosure. A very large enclosure will make a very peaky enclosure frequency response with a narrow level of bandwidth. Similar to how my enclosure is. Some people might think that sounds like crap. But personally I do not. I like enclosures with peaky responses because enclosures with peaky responses results in high SPL around the peek frequency of the enclosure.

This whole "can the trf woofer be used for music" is like my enclosure. If you called Rockford up right now and game them the specs of my enclosure and asked them if you could play music in they will probably say no. They would probably say its too big for music and you will blow up your woofers if you use it for music. Well I play music with it every day and my woofers are fine. Why? Because its all about how I use the enclosure. I don’t play bass with 25 Hz. tones in it at max volume. And inexperienced users do not know when too much is too much and that’s why they blow their stuff up and manufacturers say not to use large boxes for music.

Now the Team RF woofer is not a sound quality woofer. If you are expecting very tight bass with a wide bandwidth range, the trf woofer will not give it to you. The try woofer will have a very peaky response and it will sound very boomy. And consequently it will be very loud. Like I said before if you are looking for a very loud install that can play lil john and such, the trf woofer will do it. You can build a large enclosure and tune it to like 30 Hz. and it will freakin pound like no other to rap. If I did not think the rtf woofer can be used for music I would not consider them for my next install. Another person who has experience with the ref woofer on music is Christopher from Cactus Sounds. He posts on the Rockford forum under the name Team MBS. I suggest contacting him. He can tell you want to expect from the woofer on music. Hell he makes upgraded versions of the trf woofer so he would know.

So over all the trf woofer would be a good choice for someone like me. That is someone who has built his/ her system around SPL and who's primary focus is SPL, but still wants to be able to listen to his/her system with music.

Cap'n'Crunch i really wanted them too
08-22-2006 04:26 PM
FocalRock4Life oh and here comes another monkey wrench straight from the mouth of the design engineer:

"I ploted the box and told you that it is not a musical sub. That sub was made for SPL reasons. I explained to you to have any ouput out of that speaker that it needed to be tuned very high.

Here is plotting your speaker in that box.
-6.9db @ 30hz
+0.5db @ 36hz
-3.8db @ 58hz
-2.9db @ 102hz

From that you can see why I didnt recommend that for you. I am not going to recommend a box to someone that I know is not going to sound good. I would feel better you knowing up front then you finding out after you have built it and want to know why there is no output."

FocalRock4Life im not doubting sayars intelligence because he does know more than me, however, when the woofers DESIGN ENGINEERS say not to use it in a dd setup i would listen to them over sayar...cap n' crunch if you know whats good for ya dont do it you wont be satisfied....
08-22-2006 04:06 PM
Cap'n'Crunch The WMDs had to be sold cause i needed a new rear axle
08-21-2006 05:01 PM
One Bad MOFO what happened to your wmd plan? sorry if i missed something ive been gone for a while.
08-20-2006 09:27 PM
Cap'n'Crunch what about an orion hcca-5000d to each one?
08-20-2006 09:20 PM
Saynkuck123 But it said "rms power (1ohm):1500wx1"
08-20-2006 08:17 PM
Cap'n'Crunch the US amp can do 4kw easily
the audiobahn does 2300w rms
08-20-2006 08:13 PM
Saynkuck123 Keep in mind they have dual 1.4 ohm coils. So paralleling them would give you what... a .7 ohm load? Just guessing off the top of my head. But for that price you can get WAY MORE power. Like for example you can get an Audiobahn 2300HCT for like $450 and its rated for 2,400 RMS @ 1 ohm bridged @ 12.5 volts.
08-20-2006 08:02 PM
Cap'n'Crunch Well, ill probably start with 2 and when i get out of school, i will get 2-4 more for an spl car

what do you think about this amp (one on each sub)
http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/4359
08-20-2006 07:58 PM
Saynkuck123 Keep in mind if you want 4 you are going to need an EXTRMELY large enclosure with a very large port. A wall would probably be the best way to go. You would want a good 30 + net cubic feet along with a good 450 in.^2 or more of port area. And that’s for daily driving. The recommended enclosure for the TRF 15" is 10 cubic feet. If it was for SPL I would say a good 40 net cubic feet with a good 600 - 800 In. ^ 2 of port area.

Also if you contact a member by the name of Team MBS on the RF forum he can help you. He has heard the woofer in a DD before and he said they sounded good too.
