your going to have to find that yourself..i suggest velcro to place in diff spots to find the best location that suites your tastes

sri3850341 any idea where what?
12-27-2008 04:02 PM
enerlevel ok so thts about 80hz lpf or hpf? i already have 2 15" Rf to handle the low end so i basically want to use these 8" as mid drivers.

sri3850341,
still any idea where ?
12-27-2008 03:55 PM
sri3850341 1) i just got those 8" in the rear deck. any idea wat crossover point should i set them too?

sumz wherez round 80hz
12-27-2008 03:54 PM
sri3850341 question 1 and 2 are going to be what you like, not what we like..you going to have to "hit and miss"
12-27-2008 03:51 PM
enerlevel all right a have a few questions
1) i just got those 8" in the rear deck. any idea wat crossover point should i set them too?

2) i have alpine typex upfront but treble seems to be a bit less to my liking , so i need to install a set of tweeters... any idea where can i install the aditional set of tweeters to get the best imaging and not spoiling the sound of my front stage ofcourse.

3) i have an alpine f405 4 channel amp which uses 2 X 20A fuses.
i also have another Solid audio 4 channel amp which uses 2 x 25A fuse.
so which one of these would u prefer to run rear 8" and front Alpine type X along with an additional set of tweeters.

thanks alot.

the subs are cold!!!

nah it could possibly be rubbing or being blown or distortion from the amp or just the dust cap being ****ty

MikeWilson The back of the woofer causes diffraction of the wave from the back of the woofer outside of a box, which can cause quiet areas in the listening area if its bad enough. That may also explain the presence of motor noise you wouldnt otherwise hear.
Take for example an audiobahn subwoofer with the flame design on the back, that would be a not-as-great choice to mount inverted as compared to an RE sub, where most of the back is exposed. Consider how the back of the woofer looks before mounting it inverted. Could it allow just as easy a transmission of waves as the front?

Also, mounting the woofer inverted increases the box volume to port ratio in a ported box, thus tuning it lower; similar effects can be observed in bandpass enclosures in relation to their chambers.

Make kick pods for them, or put them in the rear ya.

Inverted is fine, it'll just be noisier.

Fallen Pro:
The sub will fit into a box it wouldn't otherwise
Con:
Motor noise.

enerlevel yea i tried doing tht , but i guess the paper has gone so soft tht the dust cap seems to be distroting when air gushes through. like the middle of the cap is gone to soft to stop the air i suppose
12-25-2008 03:58 PM
mytyeerinpie nah just silicone it back together
12-25-2008 03:43 PM
enerlevel the only reason i want to go inverted is cause the front looks in really bad shape , its been lying around so the dust cap is busted and the cone is like old greyish colour , but it plays perfect. i cant tell much about the motor noise cause the dust cap is making alot of distrotion of its own. and unless i dont get a proper feed back from the pros , i aint going to bust it open lol
12-25-2008 03:04 PM
mytyeerinpie Sometimes you need more airspace in your box, that is where inverting comes in. Personally I wouldn't just because I think its messy looking
12-25-2008 03:01 PM
sri3850341 ehh,sometimes..but then again mines filtered so i dont hear it..or should i say theres always motor noise some just more noticable than others
12-25-2008 03:00 PM
mjf595 motor noise
12-25-2008 02:59 PM
sri3850341 cooling is a good reason..typically no change in sound..i had to go inverted on my 4rth order due to space..sometimes its needed to get desired effect with what youve got to work with....kudos to you for keeping subs playinmg for 14 years and not clipping or blowing them!!!!!good job

pros and cons of inverting a sub.

hi guys ,
are there any gains or drawbacks of inverting the sub? like the magnet facing outof the box .(two of them)
also ,
1) the subs are paper cones , its been about 14years since i brought them *rockfordfosgate pwr815 600rms each. i feel the cones have gone really soft. will this effect my bass? if there away to harden them?

2) the dust cap seems to be making a weird noise, i think its torn ... so shall i just take the whole thing off or is there a way i can repair them?
