That shouldn't be a problem actually. There is something called dampening with using multiple subs per chamber. I am pretty sure it is after the first sub the next sub only requires 75% of volume because of dampening so you would need right around 3 cubic feet for the subs workable airspace.

Re: MMats 2.0 vs SSA Decon

the current draw from your front stage amp plus the current draw from your sub amp will be substantial. Im sure you will do all of your electrical properly BUT .667ohms on an amp daily is alot & the extra current draw from your class a/b alpine wont help. I say play it safe & run the system @ 1.333ohm with that good electrical.

Re: MMats 2.0 vs SSA Decon

I meant .66 or .67, whatever it would be running duel 4's. I havn't done anything to the electrical yet, but i'll do it up proper. I think i'm gonna run my alpine 4 channel, its 100 X 4 at 4 ohm, i don't remember the model number without going up stairs and looking at the amp. I think i'm gonna go with the ssa's even though i really want to own some MMats stuff again.

single 4ohm coils... Wired for a 1.333ohm load is my vote. BTW, do you have a beefy electrical & what does ur front-stage amp pull (current wise)?

I know EXACTLY what you mean. With more cone area you get more flex and more of that punch that you feel deep in your chest. I noticed this when I went from two 12" sony xplod's in a ported box to one 12" alpine type-r. The type-r sounded MUCH better and was louder to my ears but it just didnt have that punch or "bigger sound" that those 2 12's did. Keep in mind that both of those boxes were ported, and you are talking about more cone area sealed vs less cone area ported. I'm not sure how that would play out.

Re: MMats 2.0 vs SSA Decon

6.7ohms? The amp won't make any power....

reasons why two ported would louder. Ported is way more efficient, you'll be running the amp @ 1ohm nominal vs 1.3ohms. Sealed boxes have insane imp rise, thus causing the to put out less power.

the mmats sub felt like a paper weight....

Re: MMats 2.0 vs SSA Decon

If I go with the decons, should I run the single or duel 4's. Run the amp at 1.3 or 6.7 ohm? This will be a daily driver so i'm thinkin' 1.3.

I vote Dcon's too.

Excellent, efficient, American made sub woofers. But that is just my opinion.

Re: MMats 2.0 vs SSA Decon

its a Ford Flex. I wanna drop the box back behind the 3rd row which is 13"X14"X39" outside diameter. Thats like 3.4 usable air space, or something close to that. If I go bigger than that I will loose functionality of the back seats being able to recline and stuff. My wife drives this thing.

Re: MMats 2.0 vs SSA Decon

The SSA site that u linked says that the Dcon will work with 1.0ft3 ported BUT 1.25ft3 is optimal. Which would leave about .5ft3 for driver & port displacement (which would be really tight). Like I said, take pics of the trunk & give demensions. Im sure that 666WMD, Perfect_Perfect, or Profundous could find a way to make it work. Also, look into pvc port to save on port area (I've been told that round ports take up less area than slot ports).

I don't see how 3 subs sealed wouldn't be louder than 2 subs ported unless your talking about a huge power difference. I'd be running 2 ported subs at around 600RMS a piece or 3 subs at around 400rms a piece. That little power increase is no match for another driver in my experience. The diamond sub looks real nice, the shipping for 3 of them is 50 bucks, so they are the same exact money as the MMats.
With the info U have given so far & w/o the enclosure recommendations from MMats... I say (my opinion):

*Run 3 Dcon 10s,

**PORTED,

***common chambered,

**** @ 1ft3 per sub

*****Tuned to between 32-35Hz (depending on your musical taste eventhough I would shoot at 32-33hz).

... and SSA also allows you to choose between two different voice coil configurations. Plus the Dcons have the "fat-man" dustcaps

Re: MMats 2.0 vs SSA Decon

With no real facts to back my opinion, I don't like the steel stamped basket on the Mmats. Something about resonance and blocking the air flow of the cone I remember reading....

The specs on that Diamond D3 looks nice... I like the look of the Dcon, with its oversized dust cap BUT the 98.00 price tag of the Diamond D3s is sweet (not sure on what the shipping would be though)?

Diamond D310.2 10 inch Subwoofer -Best Computer Online Store Houston Buy Discount Prices Texas-Directron.com

better than the mmats and ssa sub.... I checked the mmats out at a local shop today, weak sauce.

guy here has two D3 10s in a smaller low tuned enclosure (center console) in a crew can F150, sounds amazing

Re: MMats 2.0 vs SSA Decon

To the OP... How much net space do u have available? Maybe someone could run the numbers in WinIsd (or a similar program) for both subs vs each other SEALED & then run the numbers for both subs vs each other PORTED. Both subs have a realatively low qts which indicates that the sub would do well ported. And both subs have an fs in the 20s ( 29hz for the Dcon & 26hz for the MMats) which will allow them to go decently low? Also look to see the enclosure recommendations from MMats, SSA provides theirs. Either way its goes 1.25-1.5ft3 per sub tuned to 32-33hz sounds like a good direction to start hunting around in.

Re: MMats 2.0 vs SSA Decon

I already have 2 187 10's in my truck on an audioque 1200.1. I want something different, 3 tens, around 300 watts rms, no more than 125 bucks. I want ok sound quality and potential to get loud, but i'm probably gonna run em' sealed in a big vehicle with a low resonant freq. I'm gonna crunch some numbers and see if I can get away with a ported box, but its gonna be close. Acutally i just calculated shipping, and I can get the 3 mmats subs for like 30 bucks less, unless I can get a coupon code from SSA, and there is no way I can do ported.
