crownvic02 is still in the green - This is good
Default American Bass Subs (xfl)

What do you guys think of these subs, as far as daily, sq, and Power handling capabilities, any knowledge about them would be really appreciated, i need 4 12s that could handle a rd 5750 on a daily basis with no problems being played extended periods of time, and has a great bottom end output, so any suggestion would be appreciated budget is at a 1000, i was looking at the soundstream t4s and ab xfls so anymore suggestions and opinons on the two subs mentioned would be greatly appreciated

meh their ok at best. only ever heard one 12 on maybe 800watts, sq id say comparable to a cvr maybe spl along the lines of an L7 on the same power. Build quality idk thats the main issue i would have with them.

So your saying they have no sq or spl they sound hallow and kicky.Sounds like somebody needs to do some testing with them could be a picky sub like MTX 9500s and Alpine type R's when it comes to box size and tuning

Well, im an Ab dealer and the wholesale house is not stocking them trip six, available dealer direct but thats about it.

The Xfl are some great woofers, feed them clean power and they exceed rms easily. ive ran one at 1400 watts daily and it never broke a sweat. They get loud but still have sq. by far a greater woofer than a l7 when it comes to power handleing. a great choice

dustin- please dont compare them to kicker unless you would make a statment like " the only sub kicker makes better than a xfl is a solo-x", what issues do you have with the build quality? have you taken a close look at them? or really just viewed them online?

my friend had on back in high school. had it on some audioburn 1500watt amp thats why i said maybe 800 true wrms. to me they sounded like cvr's where there a little muddy and don't have crazy good low end but still get the job done! know what i mean? anyway the kid had it in a decent box probbally around 3cf tuned to 35hz i think? not sure i know it was below 40 but above 30hz. well he blew it after like 2 months then took the baffle and cut a square hole out of the round on and stuck a L7 in their. same vc so probally using the same power and it really wasn't any louder than the xfl but had better low end. as far as i know he never blew the L7 and eventually upgraded. not to sure but anyway i know i only heard one install so take my opinion with a grain of salt but still i have heard one and thats what i thought about it.

After reading all that bull sh1t i know you haven't heard an XFL.They just came out this year .Oh and don't try to tell me no they had them back when your friend was in high school because my friend has been a dealer of American bass for 5years now.He has sold lots of american bass and used to run the VFL witch is there spl sub so i doubt your buddy had one of those and blew it.But until this year the XFL wasn't available.

So your 2cents doesn't count in this thread.I doubt you have ever heard an American Bass XFL

the xfl has not been that long, i call bs all day. any claim to that woofer not sounding good could be tru if on a sorry amp and in the wrong enclosure

in the right box sure, id go a little over 2 cubes net per sub and plenty of port to let those puppys breath

edit: id tune between 35-38hz, ive went lower but the results were better in this range

well i'm not a brand junkie, so any brand, i just want some solid 12s that can handle 1200-1400 daily with no problems thats all, and that i can tune low, but brands i have looked at were american bass xfl, dc audio lv 4s, db drive plw, & soundstream t4s, so opinions on those subs or other suggestion of subs to use would be appreciated

ive heard nothing but good things about dc, people swear by them. no on soundstream and db i cant comment on. you could go lv4s with lv5 coils or some lv4xls. if it was me id go with the dcs. if i wasnt about to build a sub id go dc

havoc is a great sub people compare it to a fi q with better power handling or a bl with better sq. soundstream is a good brand but all i ever hear about is the xxx so not sure on the lower models. DC is great lv4, lv4 xl, lv5 would probally all meet your needs but not to sure on price? anyway ive never heard any of these subs just what i read online so ya.

yeah i got a pretty sweet price on the lv4s and lv5s, just wondered could 4 lv4s handle it, also thought about going back 2 15s with the lv5s since i got a pretty damn good price on them, i seen one guy run a lv5 with 2 ia 20.1s but i think he was only for playing music for a short period of time, not on a daily use

also, audioque hdc3's would take that power, and those woofers arent all that expensive for how much power some people are running to them. But if you are able to get a really good deal on some DC stuff, go for that. A lot of people lately have been going for the Lvl4 XL's

yeah i looked at some audioques also, any idea of how they sound on music sq wise, and i notice they have a high fs & box tunning, how would they handle the low end 28hz-35hz, but i can get the dc around the same price as the audioques so it would be a toss up i guess
