Hey, i tried out the RE Se-X dual 4 (paralleled obviously) - 600wrms. Sealed enclosure, about 1.7ish cubic feet, kind of a wierd shaped center cousel box, dont know exact volume. Amp is a Alpine 600.1.
my sub is making a "rattling" noise id say. definitely noticable at the higher frequencies like 80-100hz, at the lower frequencies its hardly noticable. but it just suddenly started doing it. I have an ex-cab truck so i can hear if there was ever any distortion and i can tell when im overpowering a sub, and i didnt abuse it at all.
anyways, any input? it still plays at the same volume throughout the range of frequencies as it did before i noticed this rattling, and the amp hasnt been clipping or anything, the gain is like 5/8 way up.
ummm id like to know why you are playing 80-100hz tones through a subwoofer. it is not made for that high of a frequency maybe thats why you are hearing this. also you can not say there is no distortion just because you can not hear it you could be clipping the heck out of that sub and never know it if you try tuning by ear. get a dmm and set the gains right and also turn your low pass filter to about 70-80hz. i am assuming you are talking about the PDX-1.600 that puts out 600 watts rms at 2 ohm and the RE SE-X is 300 watts rms now i do not know if it will handle over its rated Power well but you are putting more power than RE suggests so you are overpowering it. so check and make sure your gain s set right.

my low pass filter is at 40, but obviously the higher frequencies still get through...maybe my guess on the "higher frequency" range is off... id say above 50 hz on low volume its pretty destinct, sounds like something is loose on a pannel, but it's coming from the speaker..
the Speaker plays normal and sounds the exact same as before and is equally as loud..just has that noise going on..
