Big 3 first. Then i'd say run a yellow up front and that might actually get you between 12-13 volts during bass hits. Then look into a second battery if you wanna be in the 14 volt range. A second battery is usually not necessary for a 1500 watt rms system. I ran 2000 watts rms with just the big 3 and a yellow top on my old camry for years with no probs.

i think optimas are overrated if i were you i would get a deka 9a31 like i did it has way more reserve than the optima batterys and it is only like $180 IIRC here is a link. Deka Intimidator 9A31 Battery | Absorbed Glass Mat Battery - Remy Battery

Yes i am doing the big 3 for sure. Is it ok if i do it in 4awg? I heard they use such small wire, 4awg is still a big improvement. Plus its only 1500 watts. But my alt is only 90 amps.

@Fun You ran 2000 watts with only a yellowtop under the hood? What alt did you have? And you didnt have any problems? Isnt >14 volts a problem?
@Matt Should i run that under my hood or in the trunk?
whats the difference? Why is one better than the other. And do i just need a battery with as much AH as possible?
Anyone else have any input?

the more AH you have the longer you can run your car off or if your voltage is dipping it will let you play longer be for you would have to turn it down if the alt can not keep up. i would personally put it in the trunk cause the more AH the better the regular battery dosent have much but all helps. also AH is mainly the only thing you should look at. people usually dont get a battery for car audio cause of a higher cold cranking amps its the AH people look at. and the deka 9a31 i hear is simillar to the kinetik HC2400.

It isnt"use this, or use that" on the big 3 - here's the real ??? - How long are the cables in question? 4 Awg is more than sufficient if two-three feet or less, and using that amp....

Wccoug21, do you know how low your voltage drops?
So pretty much 100 AH at least right?

4gauge Big 3 is better than no Big 3. IMHO, keep the batt you have now, get a Red Top and put it in back. Then you have 2 batts. Red Top is a lot cheaper than Yellow, IMHO, no reason to go deep cycle unless you will be running the system long periods of time with the car off.

FYI: I had 6 red Tops with stock alt and Big 3 with 4 Gauge, and it was just fine. I had some dimming headlight issues, so I should have had a HO alt as well... but considering the 6 battery strain and a 2600 watt amp, it did fine.

Yeah it was in a 93 camry with a crappy remanufactured alt that was giving 102 on the test. I ran that car for 4 years with a 2000 watt brutus and my voltage was usually around 13 at normal volume and dropped to 12.1 during late night tip at full volume on the expressway. I was hitting 143.1 at the dash on the old termlab. And i did the big 3 with 8 guage on that car! The factory ground for the battery was literally 16 guage wire that was rusty as hell!

Didn't see the volt question. Most amps are cool to run as long as you have over 11.5 volts. Of course that's pretty bad cuz at that voltage even your radio will be dimming!
