Default Monster 8'' subwoofer

well I have someone that is building me this subwoofer for just kicks and fun. My current system involves 2 10'' subs on 2 sundown 2000d amps at 5000rms. I have just always wanted a bad ass little woofer, so here it is.

If you notice, the motor on the 10'' is also being used on the 8'' sub as well

also, here is the picture of the 2 10'' subs i will be having built. These were built to my perspectives and will be getting them in the mail soon. The idea behind these subs is to take 1,500rms each daily and will burp them at around 5000rms total for comps. and yes i have recones for them just incase, got to have a recone kit for emergencies lmao

Badasss!

Can you even mount the 8 normally? Does it need to be inverted?
You should horn load that beast.

The guy building it is still working up a design for the woofer, but mounting is planned on being downfire into box. as i will have it in a t-line box in my single cab truck. I know it will be a tight fit but it will work out, and reason im gone downfire it is just for a WOW factor for my friends to see the motor on the subwoofer. other then that, the subwoofer will mostly likely get stored in the house or i will used it to have some bass in my room. like i said before, its mostly for a fun factor.

:P well I'd imagine it would work well in a tapped horn too, and you'd still get to show off it's sexy ass.

Watch out, the Tline won't provide much control over the motion of the cone...and with a motor like that, it won't take much power to reach excursion.

Then again without knowing the T/S params it would be hard to design a decent horn for it.

So just be careful.

yeah we have thought about the ex of the cone and he is gone try and design it so there isnt to much of over ex for the suspension. due to it being only 8'' and it have a motor on it that is used for a 18'' subwoofer. the motor is a good motor, but im not gone tell what it is.

i will have some pics up when i get it shipped to the house, its still in working stages right now

It'll be interesting, that's for sure!
The Tangband W8s I have have already have more motor strength than an 8 really needs, and it's got a single 6.15" magnet lmao. That thing is gonna be nuts, it's got a tripple stack of 7.6875" magnets right? I hope you get a chance to measure it's T/S params.

Oh and since your excursion will be limited by the basket/spider you should try to keep the coil only as tall as you need, to avoid wasting efficiency on excursion that will just tear the thing appart.

OMG! I just realized I have the parts to do this, too. Before I do - I just thought I saw something in the shot of the 8 - You added a sexy looking spacer, was this a staggered pattern motor? It didn't match up to the frame, perhaps, so you installed the spacer?

This trash is sexy as hell, I need a recone for an 8 and its over.... I would toss this in the Benz and call it a day.

im not building this subwoofer or the 10'' subs, im having them built for me for my needs as i requested. the spacer for the 8'' is unknown to me, but the main thing with the 8'' is he had to machine the basket to allow a 3'' voice coil for this sub. so a 8'' with 3'' voice coil and 1000rms power handling. its in the last stages of being made, 10'' are already done.

pep can check out my youtube channel, ill have vids up sometime in next few months

Ok for the basket, was it a 4 bolt converted to 6 bolt?
I have a 4 bolt 8" basket and a 4 bolt motor. Do they make 6 bolt 8" baskets?
Just wondering cause like yours, mine would need machined to fit 3" softparts.
