Default Can i run a dvc and svc subwoofers together?

Can i run one dual and one single voice coil subwoofer together in one box to one amp?
One is a dual 4 and one a single 4 ohm

will i just have a 3 ohm load if i run the two?

Sure you can, it will just take some extra math to figure out the load on the amp.

Default Re: Can i run a dvc and svc subwoofers together?

im talking about one sub being a dual voice coil 4 ohm, and one sub a single voice coil 4 ohm. in one box. its just a quastion. i got different amps.
So if i wire the dual 4 ohm to 2 ohm. and then the single 4 ohm to the 2 ohms and i will have 3 ohm. if i got an amp that does 2 and 4 ohm. will it run 3 ohm?

as far as i know the ts specs would differ on both, thus performing different then each other causing some cancellation.

Default Re: Can i run a dvc and svc subwoofers together?

running a single 4 in parallel with the dvc down to 2 gives you a net of 1.33 ohms. running it in series gives you 6 ohms. you can wire the dvc in series to 8 and run it in parallel with the 4 to get 2.27 ohms.

are you sure? because thats good news to me. how do you get that? becasue i see the dual being 2 ohm when both coils are paralel, and the single 4 ohm, wont putting the 2 ohm with 4 ohm make it 3 ohm?

you have a 2 ohm in parallel with a 4 (2*4)/(2+4) = 1.33

someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the sub with the lower ohm(however you wire it) will will be getting more power than the other one.

you are right and wrong. in series, the higher resistance one actually gets more power. in parallel, the lower resistance one gets more

I say get on craigslist sale 1 of the 2 and then put that money towards a match to the one you kept.....Also I would not run them in a share chamber box with them being different give each there own chamber. if you want to look up the wireing diagrams look it up as 3 single 4 ohm subwoofers because in a way thats what you have.

Either way one sub will be receiving way more power than the other and its overall a bad idea.
