I wouldn't say kill it in every other way. Cowon is known for their amazing codec support. I have the v5 and it plays anything from avi to mp4 to mkv. The a5 is the same way and can output to any display to 1080p which the nexus cannot do which is a must for me. I really don't even watch stuff on the main screen. They both have wireless N and bluetooth. And the nexus doesn't have anything even close to the audio processing on the cowon. I enjoy my flacs . Meh I don't really care it is 2.3.

Only downside in my book is the back button problem.

And the 64 gig is 300 bucks right now. I have heard the resistive screen is annoying but it is most likely very similar to the v5 which I don't mind.

In my book the cowon > Nexus.

EDIT: and it isn't a tablet lol. It is a PMP.
