Default A couple ?s about batteries and Capacitors

Is the optima yellow top batt. the most popular AND reliable battery to use? i know alot of people use kinetik and stinger batteries, but what should i use? (pushing about 1200RMS throughout the system includeing mids and tweets. i also only have my stock alternator).
Another ? is about caps, now i know ALOT of people say they are pointless, but if i get a big cap (10 farad or bigger) will it help me from voltage drops? I am new when it comes to upgradeing electrical, so a little patience would be nice . hahah thanks!

Caps are still pretty pointless no matter how large you go.
As far as batteries go, for 1200w, you shouldn't need anything larger than a PowerMaster D2700.

If you want to learn why capacitors are ALMOST useless in our applications, READ THIS:

http://forum.realmofexcursion.com/sh...ad.php?t=17919

If you haven't already, READ & DO this also:

http://forum.realmofexcursion.com/showthread.php?t=924

And as far as the batteries go, I second Powermaster. Great product. You will pay a bit more, but it will be worth it. Kinetik also has great products. I personally don't care much for Optima.

if u was gonna get caps (not mat LOL, sorry/joke) i would go with alot of 1.5 farad capacitors cuz they will charge and disapate faster than one big one.

yeah man really u should get a batt its easy 500 caps comparison and will hold a charge ALOT longer

were in wisconsin are you??? as far as batts you could look at the yellow tops but be carefull with used. it might not charge up fully. i got 2 stinger sp1700 batts for $200 used but the voltage stayed steady at 12.9 so i think it was ok. they still work good. you might be able to get one of the batts because the guy had like 100 of them. his name is fred from stay tuned in waukesha if that helps you at all.

i think the reason people use red tops for starter batts and not for thier system is cause the yellow tops can be continuously recharged if it goes dead with no problem and offer longer playing time if the car is off;and i think the red tops don't like to be continuously jumped. now i'm not sure so don't quote me cause i have a red top for now as a second battery for my system but i hardly play my music for long with the car off. maybe someone with better knowledge can chime in on this.

I have a rockford t2000 running at 4 ohms (rated for 1000rms) and a rockford t3002 (rated for 300 supposed to do alot more) running off of two of these (http://www.batterymart.com/p-12v-18a...battery-1.html these are supposedly the same as the batt cap 800 which is why i bought them). I havent hooked up my dmm to it yet but I have not noticed any dimming of lights even at long stop lights. My old setup with an infinity 4 channel (400watt) would dimm lights (no battery)

well the only reason your lights dimm is because it is the car switching from alternator power to battery power. once your alt power is used up your lights will dimm. i think just one nice battery then save up and get a h/o alt.

I am from Sheboygan WI, and what kind of deal do u think he could get me? i asked the guy what the voltage on the amp was, and he said he wasnt sure but when the car was running it was 14.4V so i dont think he understands too much of whats goign on... if it isnt charged fully, couldnt i just throw it on a charger and bring the V back up?

i drive a 1994 audi 100s. I think it has a big alt. and the battery is located under the back seats, so this car is pretty good for me when it comes to car audio (besides the fact of the 200K miles on it). but will check out those batts, i might just go with that. thanks!
