Default rem wire= 16AWG speaker wire?

is it bad if instead of using the designated "rem wire" you just use one run of 16 or 14AWG Speaker wire? if so why is it bad?

x2, the most you should need for remote is like 20 gauge or something like that, theres not alot of current passing through the remote.

The only current that travels through the remote Wire is enough to turn the amp on, its usually no more then an amp or two at the most. 16 gauge is what i run on all the installs i do.... it doesnt really matter what size you use aslong as its enough to carry a few amps of current 15-20ft.. i would save your Speaker wire and use cheaper wire for your remote wire.

I'm using 16 AWG for my remote. $14.00 for 100' isn't that expensive. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=100-070
