Default What do I need to do when I install my HO alt

I read somewhere that you have to do something b4 you put in you HO alt. Becasue if you dont you can really **** up your car. Is the only thing I need to do is the Big 3?

I mean what wires do I have to upgrade?

The big 3 is not really a neccessity although it would be highly recommended. The only Wire you would HAVE to change if its a beefy alt is the wire that feeds to the battery (the charging wire). If it is still factory it was rated for amperage produced by your factory alt, and now your HO Alt more than likely exceeds the ratings. Big 3 would always be good though.

disconnect ur negative


loosen belt

remove alternator (2 or 3 bolts)

the big3 is recommended considering your going to pull 250amps through the stock 8G wire?

I know some manufacturers of HO alternators require the Big3. It'll void the warantee if not done.

Leave your stock wires in your vehicle and add the biggest Wire you can get. 0 guage.
