Default Seperate battery in rear not ran on alt? How long will the battery last?

This may be a retarded question but how long would a hc2400 last without alternator charge. I was wondering if i ran 400 watts on one of these in the rear, if the battery would last everyday if i took the batt out and charged it everynight on a battery charger. Listening would only be at 3/4 level for 30 minutes tops. Is this possible or am i nuts. I know a broken alt can leave a battery running for a few days before battery would die so i figured its a good question to ask. Is there some sort of formula that someone has that i can figure this out? Or is this just a dumb question? Id be running a 1500 on stock electrical with big 3 and a hc1400 and hc600 in rear and didnt want to put that much more strain on alt. Im not willing to upgrade alt at the moment.

Comment welcome

batteries are not meant to run like that.

hook the battery up to the alt.

the low voltage your amp is going to receive is going to cook it just set the battery aside until you add a larger alt

LoL audio Prodigy
exactly WTF are you asking dude?
does yr Alt not work at all?
if the Alt still works, is connected to both batts & yr JUST talking about the car/system usage habits, with only half hour drive whilst blasting bass, without leaving enuff time to charge the batts back to optimium float, then yes, hooking up yr charger at home is a smart move, and will prolong the life of yr batts.

FYI 3/4 volume means max usable volume to me.

EDIT: sorry dint read the question title properly.
but if the Alt works, then obviously connect the rear batt.
when you get home just top up the batts with yr charger, it shud run fine, and for much longer periods too (than the half hour you stated).

need more info for good clear advice bro, CAR, engine, ALT rating, etc etc.
& whats a 1500 ?

u may be able to scratch the 2400 from yr wish/need list.
There is a formula to yr question, how long will a batt provide power, for the that you will need the AH rating (amp hours), which is minutes of capacity at 20amps or something,
and we need to roughly determin the ampage your using, which i cant remember exactly enuff to be quoted on, but i'll get back2ya. gotta go walk the dog

i left this one to stir a little, but it was all simered out, so i baked it. Taste better? lol

to work out your current draw for your Sub amps, get yr total max amperage and divide by about 3 to get your average drain on most types of 'music', (maybe not dub) even at your loudest clean volume levels.

to work out your amp's max Power usage either look at fuse rating,
or calculate it backards from the:
voltage squared /ohms=wattage

wattage /voltage = ampage

then you can work out how long the Battery will last using the manufacturers supplied data along with your current draw.
i think the basic battery Amphour rating is for 20 or 25 amps.

Also bare be mindfull of the battery's cycle life,
as it will have a different cyclic life rate according to %Discharged per cycle.

Which you would work out as a percentage from the above personalized Ampage time rating or possibly battery voltage & possibly ambient temp or something before a charge(dunno how 2 do that one).

i'm guessing anyone with a isolated Battery can use the above happily to (help) guestimate what kind of usage times will ensure a long cyclic battery life.

anyone/mods can check my thinking, as it was all off the top of my head.
