You lost me on that one. An oscope AND a battery will cost you less than $500....

Gonna have to disagree with you on that one Gar. I would just get the cheap velleman scope. For the features and capabilities you get the velleman owns the dd1.

an oscope for the price of a used dd1 imo is not a good buy.

HPS10, Portable handheld oscilloscope, 10MS/s HPS10 - All Spectrum Electronics

I bought this one a while back and it still is working today. Sure there are much better scopes out there but this one works and seems to hold up good for the money.

Wow that is pretty cheap. Should be fine for simple gain setting.

I was going to recommend rigol but those are around $400 and are a full size oscope. They have more functionality but it's not needed for gains.

I think digilent is supposed to be coming out with a really cool USB oscope/whole EE lab pretty soon. Like $200 for students too

well better than just simple gain setting. The awesome part is you can hook it up to the amp output while you are playing full tilt and actively see your waveform and pick out clipped peaks to further fine tune.

Yeah that's what I meant. It doesn't have any where near the functionality a $2k+ scope does but for anything we'd be doing in the Car it's fine.

I'm going to see if I can't find that digilent USB thing I was talking about because I think that also has a spectrum analyzer...
