Re: peel n seal nowhere.

i know for a fact that lowes, hd, or most any other hardware stores do not carry p&s in the los angeles area. i got mine through a distributor/rep in the pomona area years back. i still have a 100ft sq.ft. roll left if you are interested.

Oh....

What the price of this?

Re: peel n seal nowhere.

i would prefer to sell it local. it's heavy and fairly large. shipping would not be worth it in my opinion.

our home depot and lowes has it here and its pretty cheap...wierd on some caryr it and others dont...

Re: peel n seal nowhere.

it is sold in home centers which incur rain fall.

but not in desert and dry climate home centers.

look in the phone book under roofing suppliers in your area.

and make a few calls, roofing wholesale for example. sells it. but you will in the long run, be happier with either dyna mat.

or rammat.

but if you look at the pictures of most any peal and seal application. you will see it pulls away in some areas and you will be glad you paid a few cents more for a real car environment design product

It's asphalt based, I would not go with it. Look into eDead v1se^2 as it is the cheapest Butyl based Deadener, and works really good.

http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=52

You can buy as much or as little as you want.

This is about 40sq ft for example

Re: peel n seal nowhere.

Grace Vycor Ice and Water shield = decent stuff
Protect-O-Wrap = same as peal-n-seal.

In the Beretta, P&S worked best out of the two. I still have two pieces under the car's spare tire well (outside the car, under it, near the exhaust. Did not clean metal either). It's been up there about a year, if I remember right (did all of last season with it there). I can't pull it off. Same with the underside of the trunk lid, can't pull it off without bending the hell out of the lid (unless I use a heat gun).

If you can't find P&S in your area, all hope is not lost. MFM Building Supplies carries it. $89 for a 33.5 foot roll, 36" wide (supposedly 100sq.ft.)

General Installation: Peel & Seal is easily installed by removing the release
paper and pressing into place. It may be cut to fit with a scissors or razor
knife. Peel & Seal adheres to the deck and to itself when overlapped. Roll
surface and seams with a hand-roller.
• Apply in fair weather at temperatures above 55° F.
• Minimum slope of 1/2” per foot is required.
• Not intended for areas with ponding water!
• When overlapping, 3” side laps and 6” end laps are required.
• Masonry, concrete, raw wood, and rusted metal should be primed first
with MFM Prime-a-Seal™ or similar asphalt primer.
• To improve adhesion, use MFM Spray Adhesive as needed.
• Seams and overlaps must be firmly rolled with a hand roller!
Also make sure the metal is clean and dry. If corroded, prime
with MFM Prime-a-Seal.

Re: peel n seal nowhere.

What is the difference between Grace & Water Shield and Grace Ultra?
The main difference between Grace Ice & Water Shield and Grace Ultra is that while the adhesive in Grace Ice & Water Shield is based on SBS rubber, the adhesive in Grace Ultra has a butyl rubber base. There are other differences as well. Grace Ultra may be left exposed to the sun for up to 60 days, and it is slightly thinner at 30 mil than Grace Ice & Water Shield, which is 40 mil thick.
What is the significance of the butyl rubber based adhesive?
Stated simply, butyl rubber offers exceptional stability at high temperatures. In some roofing applications, such as those in the desert southwest, roof temperatures can get high enough that SBS based adhesives can flow under the extreme heat. Butyl rubber based membranes remain stable for long periods of time even at extreme roof top temperatures.

Re: peel n seal nowhere.

Are you guys using this roofing stuff for sound deadener? Does it work as well as dynamat or raammat?

Also, I'm interested in that eDead.. How is that in comparison to the higher end/brand name deadeners?

Scarrell 11-04-2006 06:52 PM

Re: peel n seal nowhere.

you may be suprised to find out that you may want to look before you ask... not all the workers there know what peel and seal is or anything, so look first.

Re: peel n seal nowhere.

Wasn't the eD stuff just rebranded stuff? I've heard about that on more than one occasion. Did they actually start using their own materials now?

If you think outside the box, you'd be amazed at what you could find that'd work for car audio. Hell, I found some connectors in the electrical section of home depot that'll handle up to 4/0 wire. They cost about $2 or $3. there's also something there that could be used for a multi-wire battery terminal for very cheap.

yes, the roofing stuff works, and works good. Depending on the application, you may need more than one layer.

I mean, hell, why don't we all spend far too much money for far too much overpriced crap
