I couldn't tell from your pics where the main wire was, but there should be one big fat wire coming off the alt and going to your battery. That's the one you need to replace. If it's all harnesses, then you probably have a really small alternator to start with and that's a whole big mess to replace. For a better ground, Run a cable from a bolt on your alternator bracket to a bolt on the chassis where the battery is grounded to. Replace that battery ground cable as well.

Re: Big 3

i have a dual post battery, i use the top post for my two power wires for my 2 amps and the stock side post for the alt and everything else stock for the electrical so how would i add two positive wires from the alternator could i splice the two wires into one side post connector?

Re: Big 3

Yo guys, how much will the big three help? I just got FAT ASS 1/0g (=2/0) from knukonceptz. 10 ft of it to upgrade this. I really dont know the true benefits of it. will my amp see better voltage thus putting out more power to the subs?

Re: Big 3

It allows more current to pass at once from your alternator to your battery making it easier to stay charged.

Meaning...Yes it helps

Re: Big 3

good. i always get confused of why its called a big 3. shouldnt it be called the big 4?
batt - to chassis
chassis to engine block
engine block to alt
alt to + batt

that seems more logical

that didnt help at all

Re: Big 3

engine block to chassis
Battery + to alternator
Battery - to chassis

Those are the wires you wanna upgrade....

you don't need engine block to alternator

Re: Big 3

How would I run the alt(+) to batt(+) in this case? There's no direct cable from the alt + to the battery + to upsize.

That cable came from somehere... it HAS to be directly connecteed to the alt.

Re: Big 3

run your own 4 gauge and fuse it. directly from the positive post on the alt to the postitive on the battery and leave all the factory alone. power will take the path of least resistance

Re: Big 3

what's the liitle blcak boot covering on the back of the alternator....probably it....like jake said don't replace just add to

Re: Big 3

Went from 4gauge to 0gauge: ALT to BATT several weeks ago [just found some pics] and there IS a difference! I will have to get my grounds in 0 gauge soon. :inlove:

It took forever tho [3 hrs] because lack of proper tools [I had to implement severall] and just Honda has a tiny engine compartment. Lookin for a place to put the fuse was a hassle. then as I was setting everything up I thought of a better way to run the wire :D:D:D

Re: Big 3

i heard 1/0 is bad becuase it causes hot spots

whatever that means.

still trying to decide whether to do 1/0 or 4. just harder to get inline fuses for 1/0 and connectors with a budget in mind.

Circuit City doesnt pay the best.

AP Zoutes 10-03-2006 08:51 PM

Re: Big 3

whoever told you 0/1 was bad is trying to sell you 4 gauge...or couldn't afford themselves

for connects look in ebay...there' plenty of cheap, good stuff...just take your time looking
