Default Orion D5000 @ 0.5ohm

Hi guys

i was wondering if anyone can help. i have 2 Orion H2 12" Subs (Dual 2's) has anyone run both of these subs on one Orion D5000 @ 0.5 Ohms? is it stable? any idea what RMS the amp could give at this rate? Also i have a standard 90 amp alternator a yellow top battery & a 2.0 farad cap., i'm intending to run 4 orions off 2 D5000's, can anyone advise me as to what i should do in terms of the power. would it b sufficient just to have the alternator upgraded? at the moment i have 1 H2 running off each amp, the lights don't seem to dim. & lastly guys anybody know any subs that have a Higher XMAX than the Orions?(29mm)

I have no experience with the Orion 5000d or old 2500d, but several people on this forum have run them at 0.5 ohms daily and, for many of them, their amps didn't last long. Not sure if that's universally true, but everyone who has ran their 2500ds at 0.5 ohms said that they draw enormous amounts of current.

If you're planning on running 2 of those amps at 0.5 each daily, you are going to need major electrical upgrades. A HO alt (200amp and larger if possible), no less than 1 group-31 optima per amp if you're dead-set on optima; 2 batts per amp would be better, BIG 3 upgrade, and 1/0 Wire would be minimum requirements IMO to keep your amps from clipping and/or burning up when put to the test.
Running lots of Power isn't cheap.

you would definately need to upgrade ur alternator... and a sh!t load of batteries...... there are other subs with higher xmax, what's your budget

he had 2 of them, and i think they went b/c they were wired to .5....not b/c of a voltage drop

running them at .5 requires more current
and because of that he most likely had voltage drops which in turn killed them

my voltage situation was fine. 1 2500D @ .5....2 kinetik 2400's. it was sufficient. the amps just wouldn't run @ .5 for me for more than a few months at a time, then poof. hello magic smoke.

well there is no way to prove it but i thing imp. got them
DD as you know, dont yse terminals, just 8awg strands off of the leads
this is to reduce imp. rise, causing the amps to see a lower load than expected, causing the amps to die

we cant prove it one way or the other though

That is possibly the most retarded statement I've ever heard on this forum.

And that's really saying something.

wtf are you talking about the leads causing amps to see a lower load than expected...are you smoking crack? DD uses the wire straight off the leads for a better direct connection...

I agree with Tommy on that one too....thats up there in the books...thats sig worthy for me, and i dont put quotes in my sig.
