Default Strapping two amps for one sub

I have a Planet audio P850D mono amp that is strappable to another P850D.

The manual says that these two amps can be wired down to 2 ohms strapped.

Has anyone ever done this and ran one sub? I figured it would do over 1000
watts rms and maybe it'd be enough to run a 15" TC 3000.

Strapping is the equivalent of bridging the channels of a two channel amp. Each amp will see twice the load. So, if you're running a two ohm load, each amp will see a one ohm load. It will work fine.

actually each amp will see 1/2 the load not twice the load.

I would have thought they'd see the same since you're doubling power, but with 2 amps.

you are quadrupling the power. When you bridge 2 channel in seiries each amplifier sees half the total load.

You have a 4 ohm load on one amplifier vs the same load on a strapped pair.
When you strap the amplifiers each sees 2 ohms.
If the amps put out 500 at 4 ohms and 1000 at 2 ohms then you would see 2000 strapped at 4 ohms.
You have 4 times the Power at the same load.

Mikes right. But it depends what you mean by load, they will each see half the impedance(ohm load) but will each have to deliver twice the current(double the load). So yea all together it quadruples the power. Haha my Electronics Engineering teacher was always tricky with this stuff.
