ok look i know how to strapp 2 amps together but more than that i am lost but this is how u do it. you set one amp to master and the second to slave then you only have to tune the master. you will have to run a jumper from the negative output from each amp connecting them then you run your positive Wire from your sub/s to the master positive output then you run your negative sub wire to your slave amps positive output and wala. now if your amps are not strappable you will have to get a maxx-link then it will make them strappable

hope this helps.

Default Re: Strapping amps together

Strapping amps effectively allows you to run a pair of amps on one common load..whether that be one svc sub or 8 dvc subs all wired together, as long as the load ends up being safe..

Amps when strapped effectively see half the load..so if you run a 2 ohm load to a strapped pair of amps each amp would see 1 ohm.

to break it down farther when strapping amps one amp drives the woofers in the + direction and the other amp drives the woofers in the - direction.

When strapping amps the amp set to master does all the controlling of gain, ssf, lpf, phase, bass eq, etc and the secondary amp(slave) amps controls do essentially nothing.

This below is off sundowns forum, stating a generic how to strap.. Although consult our manual as well... if you have any questions ASK don't guess. I had a pair of amps light on fire because i received incorrect strapping instructions..

3) I am looking at the manual but still can't figure out how to strap the amps.
- 3/13/07

This seems to be a common problem so it's not just you. I hooked up the wiring on a pair and snapped some actual photos to help you out:

The master amplifier gets the input from the head-unit and a mono RCA from "BR Out" connected.
The slave amplifier ONLY gets "BR In" connected from the master.
ALL controls are handled on the master, setting anything on the slave is not necessary.

This picture should be pretty self explanatory.
* The slave takes the "-" connection(s)
* The master takes the "+" connection(s)
* The "-" terminals of the amps are hooked together.

You don't need to use both sets of "+" on the amps. They are there for flexibility. While you should always connect both "-" terminals on the amps together using large Wire as general procedure it is not absolutely necessary to use both sets of "+" terminals. They are connected together internally in parallel.

When strapped the MASTER controls ALL functions of both amps.

You cant just strap any amps together though. Your amps have to be strappable, if they arent the only option you have right now is a MAXX-LINK.

PPI old skool is still in the green - This is good
Default Re: Strapping amps together

Is the PPI art series strappable, if not how does the maxxi link work.
Just to confirm the impedance as explained above, if the art series works on a 4ohm load when bridged, and you strap 2 of them then your load which is 4ohm will be seen as 2ohm, is that rite?

The PPI art serier verions 1 and 2 were not built to be strappable. The amplifier must be purpose built to be "strapped" to another.

Just curious why try and strap PPI art series amps together?

ok so what is the benifit straping two amps together at 2ohms or running two amp at 1 ohms. does straped amp push more power? or is it about the same at two running alone?
