Default hifonics zxi150.4 VS MB Quart Q4.150

ok i am looking at buying a bigger 4 ch than my AQ4X90 and i was reccomended the hifonics 4ch but i came across this MB Quart amp and it has 20 amps worth more fusing, has clipping indicator, the crossover is not as good as the hifonics. all i am trying to do is Power 4 selenium 6w4p's off of 2 channels crossed at 200-3000hz and use the other 2 channels for 4 Infinity ref860w subwoofers crossed for 50-200hz.

what i am really wanting to know is what one will sound better, put out more power, and will be reliable.

i will use the AQ4X90 for tweets and more mids/highs
l;et me know what you think i should do and why i should do so. o and i can find both for about the same price with warranty.

Default Re: hifonics zxi150.4 VS MB Quart Q4.150

the Q line is Maxxsonics flagship line...the Q amp definately has the edge on Power output and a slightly better X-over...both amps use a dual sided PCB and similar topology but the Q has better parts in it. the zxi is more directly comparable to the reference line.. just barely behind the Q..and I honestly doubt you will be able to tell a difference..

Default Re: hifonics zxi150.4 VS MB Quart Q4.150

wow, i actually like the look of that mb quart, its so clean, and all the controls are neatly placed, im impressed, and that clip light sounds nice also, with 3 different colors to show how much clip. no experience with a mb quart but from the looks, my pick is the mb.

EDIT: just read the mb quart logo on the top lights up white when powered on, i don't think i like that about any of maxxsonics amps, just seems to flashy so have something lighting up to look pretty. but no different than the hifonics lighting up in blue i guess.

like I said.. MBq is the flagship line for a damn good reason... that ZX line is far from a slouch tho...they have amazing SQ.. otherwise I wouldn't use them myself... and I have JBL/Crown as well as boston and MBq... not much difference really other than Power outputs and some better Xover topology on the Q..worth 30$ more imo...

what prices have ya been able to find them for?

sonix had the q power for 10$ less than the zxi

@229 i'm tempted to order one..

for some reason the qpower is rated @ [email protected] 2 ohm and the zxi is rated @ 300 @ 2ohm. maybe thats why they have the zxi listed higher? i actually prefer amps that do closer to the same power between 2and 4 ohms.

for power i love the zxi if i am using high end mids i go lower power an Q series.. if your doing them mid bass drivers I would do the zxi Pro.. the mbq is CEA rated at 4 ohms and i promise it is closer to double at 2 ohms

so sic what one would i be better off with they both do more than rated power right? what i like about the zxi it can be put in band pass on both sides which will help out with the separation of the frequencies.

yea but the crossover on the Q really will not help me any cause i can only band pass one side lookin like the zxi line has a superb crossover to me.
