All of the alpine amps I've used didn't like being wired low. Why get an amp and abuse it instead of getting something half ohm stable.

Oh kinda early and glazed over that part. Alpine makes some great equipment but I've never ran there bigger amps so I can't tell you about that model exactly. Should do rated though and keep its resale value pretty well

Fuse rating seems a little low for an amp rated at that power, yes I know that's not a good way to look at an amps Power because no amp is 100% efficent but still tho.

Its cea compliant so it should do its 4 ohm rating so using that the 2 ohm rating seems just fine but for 700 I'd look at a dd m2b

Default Re: Alpine MRX-M240?

I looked over this amp and here are the specifications right out of the manual compared to the amplifier i have suggested for you earlier on other forum-

Alpine MRX-M240 vs Brand B

Alpine-
Power Output: 2400w @2ohm @1% THD @14.4v
Frequency Response: -1db 10-300Hz
Input Sensitivity: 4v Max
SN Ratio: 82db
Damping Factor: 1000
Efficiency @2ohm: unknown
Efficiency @4ohm: 80% (halving impedance is typically 6-9% lower)
DCv Range: 11v - 16v
Weight: 11.8 lbs
Dimensions: 18" Long x 9" Wide x 2.25" Tall
Cost: $440

Brand B-
Power Output: 2998w @2ohm @0.3% THD @13.8v
Frequency Response: -1db 10-15000Hz
Input Sensitivity: 6v Max
SN Ratio: 95db
Damping Factor: unknown
Efficiency @2ohm: 73%
Efficiency @4ohm: unknown (doubling impedance is typically 6-9% higher)
DCv Range: 10.5v - 16v
Weight: 5.7 lbs
Dimensions: 9.5" Long x 9" Wide x 2.5" Tall
Cost: $425

So let's review-
Brand B does 600w at Lower voltage and at Lower Distortion
Brand B is also a Full Range Class D amp so it can also be used for speakers other than subs if need be.
Brand B has a wider Input range(up to 6v)
Brand B has a higher SN Ratio
Brand B has wider DC playing range than the Alpine

Brand B has unknown Damping Factor
Brand B does not use a remote gain control

Brand B and Alpine appear to have like Efficiencies.
Brand B is less than HALF the weight of the Alpine
Brand B is much smaller dimensionally as well.
Brand B costs less.
