I'm looking for a 5 channel amp as well. I have been doing some research and I think I'm gonna go with a JL HD900/5. Its way more expensive than any of the other 5 channel amps I have been looking at. However, from what I have read its got a regulated power supply meaning it always puts out rated power between like 1.5-4ohms I believe.
I don't know about you guys but I'm picking up a kicker zx800.5 refurbed for 250 shipped with a 1 year warranty and its the size of a text book

Thinking about going the 2 amp route. Will this amp blow out my jl speakers that will be running at 300w rms @1.5 ohms or will they hold up to the power?

I have bought a refurb ZX1000.1 and a ZX250.2 back in the day. Both came with birth sheets showing they were slightly under rated. So, I'm sure the ZX800.5 will be a great amp. However, I have always wanted to try out a JL amp, and I'm at a point in my life where I can afford to give one a try now. Like I said before, I know its more expensive than the other 5channel amps I have seen. It does have a couple small features that make it a step above most other amps(like the regulated power supply). Now will those other small features justify the price tag? I will find out in a month or so probably!
I don't know much about audio pipe. Last time I was around the car audio scene they were known to be good budget products I believe.
audio pipe is ok now...as long as you get the right one....and regulated is good as long as you can maintain voltage.....below a certain voltage regulated suffers (usually 12.8v)

Im gonna try to mount the amp under the drivers or passenger seat which will help because the power wire will be a few feet shorter than normal. Ill also do the big 3 upgrade If that's not enough then ill have to figure things out from then. I don't foresee needing an HO alt for a 900W amp running a conservative setup(conservative as far as tuning wise). Maybe a small Kinetik battery. We will see!
