Basically I'm tired of going the Hifonics route. I know once upon a time they were decent budget amps. This is my 3rd one that's taken a crap. Amp is in protect mode; I checked all the wires with my Power probe, the circuit breaker in it didn't pop once when I was checking remote, ground, and 12v+. I'm guessing my brother had it turned up way too loud when he was driving it.
Anyways, it's for my mom's 96 z28. I have the sa-12 in the bought camaro box at 1.1 cu. ft. She listens to older rock and newer pop/country. I'm looking for an amp preferably around 200-250. I occasionally drive the Car and listen to the same stuff plus a little rap. Any suggestions? I have the Knu 2 gauge OFC kit running to both amps (4 channel is only a little p.o.s. Pioneer prime, but it gets the job done for her). Any help is appreciated
What kind of power range are you shooting for. Could always try the MB Quart reference line. Seems to be a great budget amp.
600 true rms would be nice. So what's that equate to in budget amp language? Like 3700? Lol. Now that you mention it, I remember hearing about the mb amps but I thought only the onyx line was good?
I just went and looked and I guess it's been a while since I've looked at them. Looks like I'll probably go with the mb RA2000.1 and see how that lifespan compares to the brz I had lol

Not at all. Its unfortunate you had issues with Hifonics. They've never let me down when some of they "better" amps did. I've moved on (sig isn't up to date) to other amps myself but for reasons of power to footprint size.

You said you only have big 3 done and everything else is stock?...if so the reason the amps died is cuz they are being starved....the newer hifonics amps are power hungry and on top of that there regulated power supplies compound the problem....you got to feed the hifonics amps what they need for them to survive...90% failure on power supplies cuz of low voltage overheating

My hifonics amps have treated me good so far. I have a brz 1700 that I thought burned up but it was faulty wiring. It still bangs and so far my brx 2016 is putting in work. My engine is same as the one in the ops Z28 except it's slightly detuned. Wonder if he has a stock 140 amp alt like my Caddy? Mines is barely sufficient for what I have. He needs a big alt just like I do!

It's my moms car. She definitely doesn't turn it up loud enough to warrant any electrical upgrades. I don't want to spend money on something that is going to be a waste. I'm pretty sure my brother is the cause of this, not my mom. Now she is talking about getting rid of the box that is in there and getting something smaller so she can still use the trunk. I don't know what I'm gonna do now. I cant put the pre-fab side box in there because the system for the convertible top is in there.
