Who gives a crap? Beckerson and Cxa obviously since they keep bringing it up.

Yes he has specified, after it was noted the possible confusion.

If you try to make me look like an idiot, expect a response (unless you're a troll and/or Kyle). I find it strange no one questioned Severedvegans intelligence though he too thought it meant Digital Designs.

If you don't think the subject needs to be pursued, DON'T REPLY. Simple as that.

Unless of course you've never heard of Digital Designs and think they must therefore be crap.
In fact I've never heard of Digital Designs but that doesn't imply I think there crap. Just never heard of the brand... This is truth if I meant Digital Designs I would specify it as that...

But here is what 98Civic and I got done yesterday:

1) finished running the Speaker Wire from the trunk to the front. Hardest part was running the speaker wire to the door as Honda has the idea we all have very small hands.
2) Installed the speakers using the stock baffle with a little trimming, well a lot. With the door cover on you can't even tell they are new speakers.
3) Installed the tweeters in the kick panels about 7" from the mids as there was now way we could mount them in the stock location let alone near them. These things are massive compared to some brands...
4) Even added the stock sub to the amp

I'm very happy with the look as its very clean and sounds great for not tuning. I will get pictures up Friday of what it looks like and get some pics of the speakers themselves when we deaden the doors...

Default Additional pics

We were able to utilize the stock speaker mounts and this is the end result. Ya looks stock. Will get pictures with the door panel off when we deaden the doors (25%):

Tweeters are mounted on the kick panels. They were way to big to mount up top with the lower angled windshield:

Then we did the trunk. Please note that we just temporarily mounted this to the floor so it won't move and when done things will be hidden and mounting location will change:

The wire that goes to the top of the picture is the stock subs power:

Temporarily mounted crossovers:

We made our own ground directly into the frame:

any reason why you mounted the tweets where you did? seems like it would have pretty poor dispersion, particularly with a leg or two in the way. i could be wrong though...ive always stuck em up high and its works for me.

Actually no... In my Si the windsield is lower and longer then most cars which results in a harsher image then I liked and that was the stock system. I didn't even try the new tweets as there was no physical way to get a good mount without them being right on you...

Here is a little read that I based my decision on:

DIYMA.com - Scientific Car Audio - Truth in Sound Quality - View Single Post - Unique System & Installation - 8th Gen. Civic EX Coupe

Really my legs have little to no effect on the sound. Basically it sounds like it is right in front of me.

No car is the same or even the speaker brands. Your probably right yours sounds better up top over down bellow.

Nice build!

Does your civic have a K20 in it? I forgot what year it was that they had it.

Yup. That's a k20. Very good motor. I'm a big fan of The k24, get a lil more torque

The K20 replaced the B, F, and H series in 2001.

Yes it has the K20Z3. I'm extremely glad I got the 8th gen as Honda has screwed the 9th gen up big time. The thing looks ugly and they did jack for performance, well like they have been for quite a few years. They softened the suspension. And put a rice-o-meter Vtec gauge inside. Yes they put the K24 in which boost the torque to about 170 from roughly 140. It just makes me

Now that I've vented a little.

If i had the money i'd defiantly become a fully built Frankenstein

For those who don't know. That's when you basically swap the k20 for the k24. Which that's what the Si needed in the first place. It completely changes the car.

Just wanted to update everyone. With the holidays we haven't had much time to do anything. I also want to add a direct link to my build thread over at:

Audio Build - Page 2 - 8th Generation Honda Civic Forum

The next couple weeks I should have more to report. The biggest thing now is where/how i'm going to mount the sub. At the link above I have a post, towards the end, showing where I want it to be.

Also considering fiber glassing... Just need to know what supplies are needed. So I can get a pricing for it

Finally we got some work done on the car today. We were able to apply Second Skin's Deamplifier on the doors today.

But before this I have some pictures of my Mb Quart speakers. These were taken before the tar crap was taken off.

Driver Side:

Yes we were able to modify the stock baffle. So mounting these were fairly easy.

Passenger Side:

I do want to say for those who are potentially looking for great 6.5" components. These Mb Quart PVL 216's sound great. All frequency ranges are very clear and crisp and the bass reproduction is amazing.

Here is a clearance shot. Loads of room.

Now here are the shots of the doors before deadener.

Driver Side:

Passenger Side:

Now after

Now I had gotten 20 sq. ft of deadener and ended up using roughly four sheets per door. Now we applied some deadener the full length of the door in between the structural bars and some above and bellow. To fill the two massive holes we used cardboard that we trimmed to fit and then applied deadener over top to make a tight seal. We also filled all the smaller holes as well.

As far as the sound difference of the speakers. I could defiantly feel the beat more in my feet. I haven't really tested them at operating volume but I'm sure there is a massive difference from before...

Oh forgot to mention we added some foam tape around the speaker to seal it better to the baffle
