I have 2 Digital Design 9515 E subs. 1 definitely has a burnt coil, the other is in a semi working state. It sounds like something is in the dustcap or very slight coil rubbing. If you know how I could verify please let me know. At low Power you can hear a sort of buzzing sound, but once you get a little power (+20 watts or so) going the sound is inaudible. There is a small chip on the magnet. and on bottom of them is a bit dirty, previous owner probably had them on some dirty concrete. I believe they are dual 4 (or dual 1) ohm coils. (My DMM wont read resistance anymore. I'll try to get a new one soon to get the correct impedance) I dont think it matters as they both probably need recones. I had played the semi working one in my enclosure and couldnt really hear anything out of the ordinary.
I also have an RE SX 15 inch sub. Yes, it is the SX version, not the sxx. The dust cap had come loose and I reglued it. If i remember correctly, it is a dual 3 ohm coil.
I also have a P1222 sub (i think its dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm, like I said, I dont have a DMM). It was one hell of a 400 watt sub. Its a big 12 incher, compared to an average 12 inch sub it has about an extra inch diameter. It was sent in to JBL to get fixed a while back, its just been in my closet since and barely has any play time on it. Will be shipped without the box in the picture. It has a pretty high sensitivity (97db at [email protected]).(http://www.jbl.com/resources/Brands/...rev3_27_06.pdf)
I dont see an edit button so ill post it here.
The DD 9515 are dual 1 ohm coils.
The RE SX 15 is dual 3 ohm coils.
(I bought a cheap AC fork meter, so i could clamp my amp. and the ohm setting is rather slow, so i couldn't push down on the cone because it would make the meter go crazy and it wouldnt re-adjust well.)
