I have a set of Kicker ss65.2's in my door panels. I'm going to get another set to put in a console when I get around to building it. I was wondering, because (1). I don't know and (2). I've never seen anything posted for component enclosures, if there would be any sound difference if I put the comps in say a .5cf/.8cf sealed enclosure inside the console versus just the whole console being the chamber, sorta. Or does it not make a diff in the world. Also, would the (whatever size) sealed enclosure affect the heat dissipation of the speakers?
it depends on the midbass. depending on the t/s params, a midbass may perform better in a sealed, ported, or ib setup. unfortunately, most component sets don't offer the t/s params of the midbass. but in general, most component sets are suited ib applications; using a door/console cavity as the enclosure.
