Default selenium 6W4P 6" install / review

ok well i installed them today right after i got the package from fedex i opened the box and was amazed on the size of the magnet and weight. well i have about 20 watts going to each of them right now and they tear up my kenwood mids i had they are way louder and clearer than the kenwoods are off of less power. the sound quality is so much better cant go wrong for what $80 shipped for 2 of them from partsexpress.com now to the install pics i will be reinstalling them to make them show out of my door and i will be using the Speaker grille and the spacer that came from my kenwood comps and using the crossovers until i get the AQ4X90. so look forward to pics tomorrow or the next day.

if you have any questions ask.

Exactly which Seleniums did you get? I paid $50 for 2 of them. They're pro audio speakers in that they don't require a lot of power and have a high S/N ration at 1w/1m. At least the ones I got, and I don't like them. They're sitting in my garage in their original box. I managed to put a hole in one of them????

i have been looking into these for a while now...i have a pair of 4" TB underhung midbass drivers for fronts, they sound good but arent very loud. these look pretty good for 35 a piece and i can run them off my HU for now.

yea for the power i am giving them they get real loud and sound good. the kenwood mids were 4 ohm and do not even sound as good or keep up with how loud these get off of less power they are pretty amazing for how much i payed.

Someone can have the ones I have for $40 shipped.

I put silicone on the back side of the one with the hole in it. It sealed real well and performs as though it never happened.

Same ones you guys have.

I'm pointing to the hole puncture.

The only thing that has me off about these is the frequency range. I need to fill down to 50hz and these are rated at 80. I can get them new for $60 shipped. I've been looking at these to build a HT compact folded horn also.

On a side note I don't think that little hole in smgreen20's woofer will make that much of a difference (if any) in sound, and they are probably broken in by now. What exactly did you not like about them? Maybe you got an off-color pair?

I can tell with in minutes weather I'll like something and after only 10 mins of play time, I called it quits. So they're NOT broken in. They literally only have 10 mins of play time. The drill I was using to install them and to take them out slipped (I'm right handed and was using my left hand due to the angle) and poked a hole in the cone. I put a thin coat of silicone on it on the underside to seal it up.

I figured $40 shipped would be a good deal as one is new and the other is new w/a hole.

Default Re: selenium 6W4P 6" install / review

I have these to in my garage and planning to use them in my install with the Morel tweeters. I am just curious how these sound because I was told these are more of a midrange speaker and a loud speaker than a sound quality speaker.

Thank you
