Default Multiple Component Sets On Same Channel

I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this, but I wanted to check. Can I run two component pairs (one mid, one tweet) on the same amp channel? Sets are 4 ohm each and amp is 2 ohm stable per channel. Here's the rough part: my kicks are cut to accept 6.5" components, but the largest I can fit in my door is a 5.25" component. Will it be an issue having a size mismatch on the same channel?

Yes you can run more than one set per channel just make sure you dont go below impedance ratings and yes you can run different size also just keep in mind they will both be playing the same stuff and there is a chance one will play something's better or worse than the other hard to say if it would cause a audible issue or not though

Default Re: Multiple Component Sets On Same Channel

if you are running the mid and tweeter on same channel, you need passive crossovers.

If you are running ALL components on a single mono channel, that isn't wise because music has different information from left to right so you would lose some information if wired down to mono.

As stated, each set is 4ohm, each amp channel is 2ohm stable. Each set has a crossover, I won't be running them active, and I have 8" subs in the doors to take care of mid bass where these will fall off.

Each pair has its own passive crossover. And it's a 4 channel amp, I'm wanting to run 4 sets of components off it. So each channel will be at 2ohm and running two mids and two tweets.

i don't think there would be an issue.... would be a 4 way set up for each door basically if i understand what you are conveying?

yes, but remember passive crossovers suck up quite a bit of Power and efficiency goes away.. Have you thought about going active?? With technology and the nature of what we do, there should be no reason all of us aren't running active networks. Tuning capabilities are far more extensive....

it will work, but not for long, I think the 5 1/4 splits will die befor the 6inch splits.

I agree, and I'm planning to eventually 'glass the doors, align everything, and run active. I've always ran passive, so I'm hoping to see a nice improvement in SQ once it's dialed in.

It will work just fine but I think you'll get some cancellation have different sized speakers running the same frequency range.

Yeah, but I'll get some cancellation now having 6.5's in the kicks and 6x8s in the door. It can't really be avoided.
