if it can plays lows it should be able to play highs too. maybe soloXs are just meant for lows, being extreme SPL subs

i'm not sure if i used the correct terminology there, for guitarists. you know when you do the intonation at the 7th fret and it hits a note like you were fingering like the 18th fret or so? (don't have my guitar handy for the exact fret, nor do i recal off the top of my head)

is you're talking about harmonics they can be done on fret 9, 12, 15.

and pinch harmonics can be done just about anywhere if you know how to do em.

i extended the port another 4 inches but its still 6" wide...a site i use says if its 6" wide it has to be 26 long...well by box is only 21" tall so if i make a "L" shape another 10 inches making it 26 in the L shape would it still work...by the way 6" wide and 26" long is for 32 hz which is what i want...for it to be 14" long it has to 4" wide...is it making that big of a difference becuase it 6" wide and 14" long instead of 4" wide and 14" long?...also is a L shape better to use?

I don't know how much loss it would account for but I'd guess your losing a bit of sound due to cancellation with those large unbrace panels. A vibrating box is out of phase from your sub and = loss.

Brace, brace, brace

Can you post your box and port H W & D?

i dont even need to see a vid to tell you those panels are flexing like there's no tommorrow.

i see no bracing at all.

and that seems like an awful small port area for a solo-x 12

whats your group delay like

had this issue with a box i designed for a focal before, just wouldn't play hight but would play very very low and even then i had to give it silly amounts of power

Yeah from the looks of it the port is too short. But I'm not an expert in the Ported box category. I do sealed Only.

Sorry to interrupt, but it's actually on the 7,9 and 12 fret.
Also they can be repeated higher on the neck.
And as for the box.
I had the exact same problem with the box I built for my Orion HCCA.
Didn't touch any high notes at all.
I went to the ddaudio website, took their advice of building ported boxes.
Now I am very very very impressed.

my box is 47.5 long 14 deep and 21 tall....and yes it does plex now that i think about it but i was afraid bracing inside would maybe hurt my spl but i had no idea of cancellation...if the port is 6" wide it has to 26" long to be 32 hz...right now its 6 wide 14 long so if i make it an L shape will it still work of the port is 26 long? also how should i do the bracing?

I'm not sure you took into account the internal volume you lost with the 3/4" MDF that makes up the port. With the dimensions you gave you're port would be tuned to almost 35.5Hz (I didn't take into account any fill/stuffing(?). If you leave the opening the same you'd have to stretch the port for quite a long ways (~41") to get to 32Hz. If you reduced your opening from 6" -> 4" (4x12.5 is equivilent to an 8" round port) you'd hit 32Hz at a port length of 18.87". Would anyone else agree?

Bracing would lower your internal volume and change your port length but is a necessary for a box with such large panels. Any number of insane configurations will work.

Yes, "L" shape. Your measurement for the length will down the center of the 4"s.

The port length will depend on how much bracing you put in it. As you go lower in cuft the port will get longer. Do you have any idea how you'll configure the bracing and how many cuft it'll occupy?

first of all i know nothing about this subject but i just had a thought

how come your port is going the same way as the short part of the box and not running along the back or something where you have over 30 inches to play with?
