Default Tuning 10's and 12's together?!?!?!?!

A buddy of mine has asked me to Build a couple boxes for him. He has 2 JL audio 10w3's and 2 12w3's. He insists that he wants all of them hooked up even after I explained about frequency distortion. I really dont care cuz im getting paid to make them . What I need to know is what can I tune the boxes to so the distortion is not bad. He is wanting the 12's tuned to 32 hz so what should I tune the 10's to? The dimensions available are 12s- 40"wide x 25" deep x 14" tall 10s- 36" wide x 12" deep x 14"tall. Any suggestions?

Tell him you'll do it (and do it the way you want, tune 10's high etc), but make sure he understands you still get paid when it sounds bad (which it will) and you take no responsibility for the way it sounds after installation.
CYA.
Otherwise he'll probably make it seem like it was your fault it sounds like ass.

just make sure they're in separate enclosures of course.

since hes stuck on it. what id do is, make the lower tuned box first, play it, see where it drops off on the high frequencies and tune the other box around there.

lower box-30-35
higher around 45-50.

When I first joined the site I was obsessed with JL Audio. As I started seeing other brands were out there for cheaper I decided to branch out. Got a Treo, fell in love with it, sold the JLs lol.

if you have no other options then you might as well make the best of the situation.

the kid hes doing it for is set on putting them all in.

so you might as well do what you can to make it not sound like complete ass, although its going to anyways, try not to if at all possible.

well if the person is set on using them, which he obviously is.

not much else to do.

It may sound better if you run high and low pass filters to block the frequencies theother box play's

He is set on them. I sat and explained last night for about 45 minutes on why to go all 12's. He said he wants to do the 10s and 12s while he saves up for more 12's. It will be ok for his first system. I tuned the 12's to 30.8 hz, probably going to tune the 10's to about 45hz maybe higher. Here is a pic of the 12's box half done. I will make a new thread for the build tomorow when I get more pics. It is 3.6 cubes, dual 3 " ports. Should be pretty loud, I will find out friday.
