isobarik is where you mount 3 subs normal and 3 subs inverted on top of those (top set will be wired with reverse polarity) then just fill the other holes. i would def try that option as well

take out the front set make a spacer to seat the front set inverted above the rear set of subs. reverse polarity of the inverted set by wiring the positive to negative, negative to positive.

"This is not a new concept, having been originally introduced by Harry Olson in the early 1950's. Technically, "isobarik" is not really an enclosure type; it is a loading method. This loading method involves the coupling of two drivers to work together as one unit. This is typically accomplished either by placing two drivers face to face or by coupling them with a small chamber. The result of coupling the two speakers is that the coupled pair (iso-group) can now produce the same frequency response in half the box volume as a single Speaker of the same type would require. For example, if a speaker is optimized for performance in a 40l. enclosure, one iso-group of the same speakers can achieve the same low frequency extension and overall response characteristics in a 20l. enclosure."

hmm...yeah maybe don't try it if you don't know what your doing...but its gonna lower your tuning drastically and give each sub a "virtual" 6 cuft to work with. Isobaric doubles the motor strength of the sub(it essentially uses two sub motors on one cone!)

You will need some spacers To prevent the cones from hitting, and the surrounds from rubbing.

this used to be one of my favorite designs back in the day......even isobaric band pass boxes. They sound GREAT if you do it right and get very loud....you dont necessarilly "lose" 3db you just dont gain it by adding another cone like you might if you added it by itself (and doubled the power). You WILL gain though.

They are so powerful for such a small box that it is worth it if you can get it right.....i thought about doing 8 18's like that and i might do it someday but right now it would be more of a space situation. My box is too tall and the magnets would hit the cieling on the subs near the hatch where it slopes down. Someday when i get some "me" time i will redo my box and try it...

elvis, your truck is hurting your score more then your box......everyone says it SLAMS so i dont see a reason to be upset, especially since you finally touched that '50. SUV's arent THAT hard to get loud but they ARE hard on the mic....its just NOT a dbdrag Car (unless you wall to the B-pillar).

edit: i forgot about your low end falling off so hard.....well that does suck. You finally got a 150+ so that part is cool though! congrats!

:P see I do know what I'm talking about. haha. Oh and the losing 3db, I totally agree, infact due to getting a larger box, you could very well gain dB. Who knows. But I think its worth a shot.

I think before I did anything major to the box I would try to get that **** out of the ports. Not sure if that would help, but its worth a shot.
