Default solox 18 i a 4th order

i am gonna run 1 solox 18 in my trailblazer. right now i have it in 10cubes with an atomic 3000.1 wired at .5ohm its loud but not where i want it to be. so i am gonna try a differ box. has anyone ever heard this sub in a fourth order. i am thinking about 2.5 cubes sealed shooting into 12 cubes ported powered by a memphis 4kw. wired @ 2ohms daily and .5 for burps. electrical i got 150 amp alt. and five orange tops in the back it supports my atomic at .5 daily so it should be suffiencent for the memphis for burps. any suggestions on the Build would be greatly appreciated

i haven't heard 1 solo-x 18 in a 4th order but i've heard 8...

steve mick found he pretty much had to make the sealed chamber just big enough to fit the motors in... don't know how big his ported chamber was.

Just keep testing. If you want super deep bass (wont be as efficient) Build a relatively large sealed box, with a relatively small ported box. Maybe keep the ported around 1.5-2x larger than the sealed.

If you want a "louder" more peaky upper bass (will be more efficient) that will do better on the meter, build a tiny sealed box and a large ported box around maybe 4-5x larger than the sealed.

Those are just some rough guidelines, only way is for you to test, rebuild, test, rebuild. Just keep modifying the box until you are happy.

not necessarily. from what i've read, a ported box will play louder, but not as wide of a range as the 4th order

pete's boxes are vehical specific.

and bandpasses(4th order) from what I understand can either be really loud and peaky (louder than a vented) or can be flat between the two frequencies its designed at. Or a mixture of the two.

I completely understand this, all im implying is that i have a solo x in a 4th order and it sounds fantastic. So if he's looking at trying a 4th order with this particular driver i would'nt hesitate to do so, it sounds just fine in one.

i hear ya,mine is the best for my certain application/setup,i spent almost 1500.00 just in trial and error for my lows, when i got my design from pete,i was skeptical,(subs being inverted and all) but i built it and installed in Car
and was very impressed at my broad response and pressure..

or jay thompson's old truck that was doing a 159's legal with a single battery and 2 18's in a 4th order.

moral of the story, 4th orders can do pretty much anything a ported box can do, but usually sound better doing it. they just might take up a little more space..
