Default Ported box for a Type R 12". Port Area/Length etc.

building a new box for one type R 12". punched in the numbers on res box calc and came up with a box that is 2.4 cubes tuned to 30 hz. I know it doesnt add sub disp so that will bring it down a bit. (which is good I didnt want it that big anyways) Is 29" of port area and a port length of 30" alright? Im not exactly sure I know the general rule is 12-16 or 10-15 blah blah I just need to know from someone who does, Thanks

i ran two of them in a ported box with just about the same port area and had no noise or trouble at all. itll be more than enough for one. you can easily knock the box down to two cubes and be fine. i had two in about 3.5 feet and they sounded great, but they were tuned a few hz higher

I made a box for my type-r this summer and I would recommend around 10 inches of port area per cube. I think your box it a bit too big also. I'd aim for 1.75 cubes of volume after displacements. How much Power will the sub be getting?

type R's like big air and small port...

9inches per cube is plenty... and 1.75 for a 12 is good... NEVER use RE calc it is way way way way way way off...

Yup the more that cone moves, the more air is being displaced, hence port port area.

Big pump, big dump. lol.
