I'm going to put this up so we can get standard information as far as what you NEED to post.

don't post a thread without at least this info.
About dimensions. these are the most curcial. We need Length x width x height. its also good to give what space is there and what your willing to use, so we can account for areas for the port to breathe, etc. PLEASE make sure these dimensions will fit in the vehicle if your not willing to Build inside
  • EXACT dimensions
  • Vehicle/desired placement
  • Power
  • what kind of music you listen to
  • woofer type/quantity/size

Yes, Zha, Si', Qui.

Thanks P.S.. I know guys may feel somewhat belittled when a topic starts with this question; it goes on for a couple pages before anyone knows what the guy wants. I did, in the beginning try to figure out what the dude wanted and was working with repeatedly, but then truly grew tired of asking the same questions over and over. What's even more is when the guy just falls off and says, "okay I'm going with a pre-fab," through alot of times they won't say this but will just not respond anymore.

Alot of wasted energy from such knowledgeable, nice guys.

I seriously almost wrote up the very thing you did to keep on the desktop so I could copy/paste into these types of topics to save from having to type the same questions again and again.

agreed. it had just become so repetitive that we've wasted so much time trying to pry stuff that should be posted from the beginning

Give as many details of the vehicle as possible, like if the rear seats fold down or have a "ski hole" opening and whether you want the enclosure to fire into the cabin this way. Keep in mind if the seats or ski hole are up, the enclosure will be choked so think of how often you use the rear seats and if that configuration is suitable for you.

A run down of what tools you have and your skill at wood working would be helpful. A basic box requires few tools and little skill. A complex box with kerfs, countersunk baffles and the like would require a little more skill and proper tools.

Points to consider when taking dimensions:

- Will it fit through the trunk opening? Keep in mind the enclosure will go in on an angle in most trunk cars, so the available height in the trunk may not be the total height you can use. Think of trying to post a package on an angle through an opening only slightly larger than the package.
Lay a board/length of timber on the back of the trunk opening reaching to the seats and measure at a right angle from the board to the top of the opening at the base of the window then again at a right angle from the board to the back of the seats. This will give you the height which will fit and the length.

- Are there any protrusions that will hinder getting the enclosure in place? (Brackets, supports, moving parts like trunk lid stays etc)

- Look for odd lumps that will keep the enclosure from sitting flush. Note them as a problem though they might be able to be dealt with. Wheel wells are notorious for having large curves where they meet the floor and can change the width of an enclosure drastically.

A lot of this is guess work by eye but it's the easiest way to do it.

Use a solid object like an MDF panel or length of timber to get these measurements. Place the front edge slightly back from the seats approximately where a full box would hit the back of the seats.
Measure from the bottom of the panel to the underside of the parcel tray at the base of the window. That's the height you can use.
Measure from the front edge of the panel to the back lip of the trunk, that's the total length you can use.

ah i see now, not sure if that works as i never thought of trying it, but if it does than awesome. i might go measure mine see what i come up with, the box i have in it now cant get any bigger so if it come close to the height/length of the box in it currently then i would have to say this is good way.
