I'm not sure if those work with the 5" pvc or not but if they do then go for it, if not buy it from them.

DURA 5 in. Schedule 40 PVC Coupling SxS 429-050 at The Home Depot

As far as length. Just run the ports so that there about 3" off the back wall. You can get as close as 2" but the extra one wont change your tuning that much.

The end of the port should be between 2 and 3" from the back of the box. 1" wont make hardly any difference in tuning at all. 1/2 a hz maybe. So don't get it like 1/2" from the back of the wall or the port can't breath. I made the box 21.5 deep instead of 20 so that it had that extra 1.5" for port length.

The further to the back the lower the tuning. If you went 4" you would be like 33 though so its really not that much different and you don't want to constrict the port from breathing properly. If you truly want lower tuning make the box wider. Put it back at 34 wide and your volume bumps to 4.5 and tuning down to 31

If you can it helps. He specializes in ports for spl so I imagine it already is.

what's the price for service like that.....design the box....build the box, delivery and fetching parts from Switzerland. might as well take that scope and a termlab and give him the supreme service

leave it to kingpen to take service to the max

I just sent you an email with this info but yes (3) 4 inch ports would be the same because those 5's are really 4.9's.

If I were doing 4" ports I would move the subs up and closer to the middle then do one down the middle at the bottom and two in the bottom corners.

Here is an alternative you or anyone else can use for ports to save some money.

1. Cut the outside baffle to be the diameter of the inside of the pvc
2. Round it over with a 3/4 round over bit
3. Cut the inside baffle to be the diameter of the outise of the pvc
4. Insert the PVC from the inside until it hits the lip of the first baffle.
5. Glue the port

something like that work?

thats your max dims comes out to 4 cubes net tuned to 33 w/ 40 sq inches of port. i didn't put any round overs or anything on there, but i can if you'll be doing that.

That's an idea. I wouldn't go that low on my port area with a square port personally. Its very likely to have port noise and with it firing forward it will be more noticeable. Maybe not but its something to keep in mind.

yea but i wanted the tuning that the 5in areos plus i really liked the dual port design with them in the middle, i dont like the idea of ports across the bottom of the whole box. it was really only a little more than double the money of the common sizes just the 17.00 shipping is where it bit me.

As long as your happy then that's all that matters. People have spent much more on there preference when a cheaper alternative would suffice.
