No that's completely fine as long as they have at least 1.5 times the diameter away from the nearest wall. So if you have a six inch port it needs to be around nine or more inches away from a wall.

On the same face of the box is the best what the last poster means is inside the box it needs to be as far away from the sub as possible so the enclosure pressurizes correctly.
Well now im getting confused. My box top can only be 36wx13d with the one zv4 facing up(yeah cutting it real close I know) with a 4" aero port on each side. Should I just center them between the edge an the sub???

Um you confused me a bit it's only 13 inches wide or tall where you are mounting the sub? On the same face as the sub is best. The aeros should have a total mounting diameter of 7 1/4 so they should fit.
That will work fine. Kon mislead you a bit with the port distance from the wall though. With a slot port it needs to be 1.5x the slot width away from a wall. If it is the same width away, it will extend the length and become part of the port. Anything less and it will render the port basically useless.
With a round port it needs to be a sufficient distance that the cylindrical area around the mouth of the port is more than the cross sectional surface area of the port. Ie: a 4" port has a cross sectional area of 12.56sqin (Radius x Radius x Pi = {2x2} x 3.14). The cylindrical surface area is found by Surface area divided by {Diameter x Pi}. So 12.56 / 12.56 = 1". 4 is a funny number because the surface area total is the same as the diameter. A 6" port would be 28.26sqin / 18.84 = 1.5". If you put the round port in a corner or against a wall it would then need to be further away. Basically you're safe if any round port is the same length away from any surface as it's own width.
Jeez j just make me feel stupid. At least you actually posted for the first time in ages. But yes I basically ment it needs to be further away than the diameter of the port or it acts as an extension and further lowers your tuning.
