trice0 is in the red - Must have upset some poeple...
Default quick question. help needed.

I am building a box for a SQ hds300 15. My box is 4.1ft^ net. My port is 3 in wide 17 in high and port length is 20"11/16. Tuning is 35Hz (if my calculation is correct) my quest is my design has a flaw (possibly) my mounting depth was wrong when I made my design and the back of my sub is only about an inch from the port wall. Is this an issue? Here is a rough drawing of my enclosure.

if it's 2 inches from that port wall you may be ok.without the dimensions on the drawing it's hard to tell the distance
need some input from one of the brite ones to be sure

If its not built yet just mount the woofer close to the port exit..away from the port entrance and you should be ok

So do you mean to move it as far to the right as possible? Don't know which to consider the exit. Exit being front of box or the internal end of port wall.

Exit being front of box move the woofer cutout to the. Left next to the port and that should keep the woofer away from the mouth of the port

The shape of the box will come into play a lot but if its an L port (like pictured above) your likely fine.

One more question if y'all don't mind. I found an enclosure design online perfect for my sub except the port would fire twords my hatch while my sub fired up. I drive a grand Cherokee would this sound good or should instich with my design?

That alignment is one of the best in that car. As long as its not real close you shouldn't have much hatch rattle either. If you do throw a little deadened behind the panel.

How long is the rear leg of the port? I'm guessing only 10"? You would be better off extending it to 15" to drop the volume of the box a bit, dropping the tuning to 33ish and give the sub a complete loading wall. Having the loading wall only extend 2/3 the length of the sub may cause weird issues like the cone twisting in it's travel.

Yeah it's about 10 inches. Would the tuning change make a drastic difference? Soundqubed recommend 35hz. I'm listening to rap for the most part. What about coming up with the port length by removing the L shape and running the second bord side by side? Then I could just put my sub centered on the front.

Listening to rap you want to be tuned around 32-35hz. Making the port switch back on itself would be better, as long as the sub isn't too close. Centering it in the chamber rather than the enclosure would be ideal. Ie: if your enclsoure width is 38" with a switch back port 4" wide, the port would be 8-9" (including wall thickness) on the left. So you'd want to put the sub in the middle of the remaining 29-30".
