Default help with a box ......4 Obsidian V3 12 `s in a blazer.

I would like to get afew different opinions on a box. 4 Obsidian V3 12`s in a s-10 blazer would like to keep below the window line & tuned to about 31 to 34hz.I have 2 amps to choose for powering them one is a DC 5k and the other is an older AQ 3500 with the single Power & ground input.
I have measured the cargo i have 38w 16h by 28d i have to put amps and batterys back there too. Atm i have 2 AQ 18`s with the DC 5k & MB quart onx4.125 and 3 Deka`s back there.

Stick with the 5 k and all batteries in front of box or behind box? And where is amp located?....

all battery`s are on the passenger side of the box i built a bracket to hold 2 of them over the wheel well and one sits under that and the amps are mounted to the back of the box.

If you're gonna use the 5k on the Obsidians, I'd say drop the volume to 1.75-2cuft each. Mount the amp on it's own rack in front of the box and port back with about 5" between the box and the tailgate.

Don't have to push the amp as hard and it can combat rise plus the obsidians can take 800 RMS daily

The reason y I ask is cuz I had a 00 blazer and it peaked in the 45 to 50hz range and I intentionally ported low (28hz) to get more of a range and it worked I was within 1 db of peak score from 29 to 44hz and sounded amazing ...and dug down low to like 25hz low..lol and them obsidians are going to like lows more than the AQ 's so if your not looking for a meter monster and want more of musical monster port low 28 to 30hz and your vehi me will still be loudest at 45 to 50hz giving you more musical range...but if your chasing numbers port high like 35hz or higher you won't have the range but itl be louder

Its all over the place actually some peak in the 30's 40's 50's 60's 70's 80's or even higher just depends on vehicle and the setup ....but most vehicles do peak in the 40 to 50hz range...but that doesn't mean that this applies to your vehicle...my Malibu peaks at 30 my buddies explorer peaks at 60hz

What's the current tune?...34hz?...tune them obsidians to 28,29,30 and they will sound great and since you have more than snuff Power I'd stay around 1.75 to 2 cube per sub and side ported if possible I had great results with that in my blazer not rear ported port up or port back tends to break or damage the rear glass latch and make the gate rattle horribly...can you port to the drivers side?

ya the Aq`s are tuned to 34 hz i can port on the driver side but i read that port back was the loudest in blazers... i just didnt know on the box size for them obsidians i was thinking around 7 cubes and 31 hz tune for them

because you have so much Power on tap I would stay around 1.75 cube per sub and the lower you tune the flatter the responds will be so 31 would be OK just give them at least 15 square inches of port per cube and you should be good

Not enough port area need at least 15 square inches per cube and select the sub up option...and number of common port walls look in help section at port pics and select the port you have or want....and is that side ported or rear ported?

this is as close as i can get it without tuning lower....28hz would look better on the calculator but this should work ported towards drivers side tall slot port
