Default 12" Fi Q box design help

looking to Build a bandpass or t-line enclosure for my 12" Fi Q, will be running 1000 watts RMS to it, dual 2 ohm coils

in the hatch of a 2010 Escalade
I listen to all types of music, mainly rap/hip hop, or electronic music

for max dimensions, i would say: 24" wide x 24" deep (can be increased up to 34" if needed) x 13" high

currently i have it in a 2.3ft3 box tuned to 33hz, sub up port back, 13 sq inch of port per cubic foot, and I'm not happy with the response/sound of the sub at all, really hoping a better box design can change that

13 square inches of port per cube is a bit low....and you have a large vehicle...a single 12 will be hard pressed to fill that space with the right amount of sound....but I'd try a 2or 2.5:1 4th order.or you could Build a box with more like 15 square inches of port per cube and add some more wattage...cuz I know them subs like 1500+ rms

Default Re: 12" Fi Q box design help

the response over 60hz is great, more than expected even, but below that almost everything is not audible. being that the box is tuned to 31hz (which is were my previous boxes were tuned) i would expect somewhat decent low end out of it

The re calculator is usually off a bit....31hz is prolly more like 35hz or so....and have you checked the filters on amp?...perhaps there set wrong or you made a gross error in the Build or design....I could design one for you on another calculator and post it here

Alpine pdx 1000.1, I built exactly to their cut sheet, all filters are set correctly, the sub is definitely moving to the frequencies I command

Default Re: 12" Fi Q box design help

i say you need some more power.....and maybe move box closer to rear gate....that will help push some sound forward.....your port area is on the small side....with the space you have a 4th order would be legit

Try blocking port completely it should give more gain, more pressure and more ballenced freq response but the box should be bigger in this sense aswell.

I'm really looking for maximum output, so i'm sure a properly designed box will do much better, the amp will def get upgraded down the line, but I'm trying to keep this setup as "small" as possible in the new truck.

this current box was thrown together purely to maximum space specs, and that was it, like i said, i've been "out of the game" for a longgg time so remembering all this stuff is coming back in pieces lol

Default Re: 12" Fi Q box design help

Sub up port back and 30hz is fine for the q....I had my q18 tuned to 27hz...and a q 15 tuned to 29hz....the 12 should get down tuned to 30hz....however you still want a slot port or would you want aeroports with weeks you could change the tune on the fly

i think i'd like to stick with a slot port, i want the box to be some one concealed, so no external aero ports, (from my understanding if you change out the internal ones you change box volume as well)
