Default Woofers ECT WARNING~ please read

i saw this and i figured id show this to everyoen so they see it. this was foudn on zapco website. found here

http://www.zapco.com/

click on the buyer beware link at the bototm of the screen.

i have seen this from other companies such as cdt and a few other high end companies.
\

Zapco Buyers Beware!

It has come to our attention again that companies known as Woofers etc. and acaraudio.com are selling Zapco products on the Internet.

We emphatically say Woofers etc. and acaraudio.com are not authorized Zapco dealers.

Also, we don't know exactly how it's happening but amplifiers bought from the two companies and sent to us for repair have lost their original Zapco serial numbers, even the serial numbers we carefully hide inside each unit.

This removal or defacement of the official Zapco serial number voids Zapco's product warranty completely and borders on legally questionable action.

We once again warn all of you out there to make absolutely certain you are buying a fully warrantable Zapco product by asking to see the original ARPA of America Warranty Registration Card originally shipped with the unit (a serial number is always affixed to this card) or ask for the actual serial number and call us to verify its authenticity.

Tampered products hurt you and damage the reputation you've come to expect from Zapco products.

Beware and check for an original Zapco serial number every time you buy Zapco.

A World Wide Problem

Yes they are everywhere making claims. For example, www.caraudiosa in South Africa is not a Zapco distributor, and they are not a Zapco dealer.

The pictures on their web site were stolen directly from our 2002 catalog. Most of the products on the site are at least 3 model years old.

Remember, if you buy our product from this type of company you will not receive any support from Zapco or from our representative in your country.

If you have questions about finding our current products at a legitimate reseller, you can check our International Distributor list or mail us at [email protected]

gotta be careful these days. this is why i try to buy from manufacturer only on new stuff or a dealer of that product.

That won't change anything, people still want to save money on everything, so they'll buy them from woofersetc before they go to an authorized dealer.

Every company has the same problem right now.

But they won't & we all know they won't. I like it how some companies don't have online dealers.. ie: Memphis.

Yes, they sell them, but no, they're not authorized dealers.

woofersetc also sells Memphis, almost all of their stuff to be exact. It doesn't matter if you have "authorized" online dealers, they are going to show up online anyways.

What I'm trying to say here is unauthorized dealer = no warranty from that company.
PLUS I've heard woofersetc.com sucks w/their warranties.

Yeah, woofersetc is not authorized by Memphis, and they are getting it from somewhere else. Nor are they authorized to sell Focal, yet they have most of their stuff listed.

I have known about this for awhile. Because I was looking at their JL audio 10w1v2's online, when I was in the market for some new subs. But I checked JL's site and they were unauthorized. Plus, I can get JL and other companies locally, for about $20-$40 cheaper than what it would cost online (with shipping and all.) They want $109.99 plus $20 shipping. I got mine for $70 and a warranty with them.

I am pretty sure it is the real deal, just not selling as an authorized dealer.

they take off the serial numbers so that they can't trace who they got them from, and get their supplier taken away. Because if Zapco knew who was supplying them the amps, they would probably cut them off.

thanks but this is not what one would say is news or new news… any of these so-called wholesale sites are selling refurbished, b-list or worse stock and well people love bargains and hate spending money now dont they...

most manufacturers are now providing warnings on their sites as I have seen that memphis audio was one of the most recent… but as well they usually also provide legitimate online relaters if that service is offered…

caveat emptor “let the buyer beware”…

It has been remarked that if one selects his own components, builds his own enclosure, and is convinced he has made a wise choice of design, then his own loudspeaker sounds better to him than does anyone else's loudspeaker. In this case, the frequency response of the loudspeaker seems to play only a minor part in forming a person's opinion.
