Default Odd problem

Hey guys, I just got my first system set up in my truck and it bumped great for a little but there was a problem where the iPod and RCA adapter wasn't working and the keys were semi-unresponsive on the faceplate so I took the head unit out to fix it. When I did this I had the key on accessory to test it to see if I had fixed it. All of a sudden the sub started thumping so I disconnected the RCAs. That didn't really stop it so I disconnected the whole Power to the head unit and everything to get it to stop. I tried connecting it again and it did the same thing. Here's my setup..

580MP with CD-IB100II and RCA adapter plugged into that
MTX MXA4002
Infinity 1252W wired to 8 ohms

Bad ground where, head unit or amp? And are you sure, I'm not at all doubting you but I don't want to plug everything in again just to end up blowing something.

Default Re: Odd problem

Check both ground up front and in the back of the car. Also, I had that problem once, but it was a screw that was holding the amp down. The screw was longer then the wood was thick and it was touching the metal on the car. That took me a while to find outh that was the problem. Try those areas first, then Maybe try a new set of rcas. dont run them just hook them from the deck to the amp to see if that solves the problem. If it does your current rcas have a knick in them some where.

Turns out it wasn't either. I rewired everything on the head unit's wiring harness for one, using my soldering iron and some electrical tape for lack of heatshrink anywhere around here. Then I took out the iPod adapter and RCA adapter which I have a weird feeling was part of the problem, and while I was at it I accidentally snapped my positive terminal going to my battery so I replaced it with a new heavy duty one from Advance Auto and I've gotta say it not only looks better but it's also got a nice spot to bolt my amp wire's ring terminal on at. I tried new RCAs and had no problem but I got to wondering about the old RCAs so I plugged them back in and had no problem at all with them so I'm using them now.
