Alright I'm trying to purchase a c9 to run my front stage active but I have some stupid questions. First question is do you need a dedicated 4channel RCA's or could you get away with a 2 channel since it's just for the front stage, also what are good crossover points to start with, also what about test tones I'm guessing you wouldn't use a 60 hz tone for mids and tweets, Speaker write gauge I'm guessing 12 and what should I go for tweeter wise supper tweets or something else?

Yay for C9s! Here's the manual: http://cadencesound.com/content/ZRS-C9.pdf

Yeah you can, just switch it to 2ch mode and it will take the signal from inputs 1 and 2 and send it to outputs 1-4. If you plan on adding t/a or a processor you'll need to use the 4ch mode though. I have one 4ch set of RCAs going from my HU to my processor. One set carries a full, unadjusted signal and the other set is on the subwoofer pre-out. They go on the 360.3's inputs and get split up into my 4ch combo with t/a, attenuations, active crossovers, etc. So, 4ch front to rear processor and then 6ch from the 360.3 to the amps.

For my first and current tune - which I just threw together to get everything working - I bandpassed the mids 70-4.5khz and put a hpf on the tweeters at 4.5khz. I was running really late and wanted to make sure I wasn't going to break anything.

When I get a chance to re-tune The mids will have a hpf around 70hz (12db) and apparently they blend well with the tweeters this way if I don't filter the higher frequencies. For some reason I thought it was a good idea to bandpass them but now I realize that was really stupid. My soundstage should be much better when I get that taken care of. As far as the tweets go I'd start with a 12db hpf around 4.5khz and go from there. HAT recommended 5.2-6khz for my Imagine set so I'm going to try around there and see how it goes.

For the test tones I didn't know either so I used -5db 100hz and then checked the gain again with a -5db 1khz tone. For the tweets I did 4khz because that's all I had HOWEVER, when I did this the crossovers were 100% open so it's not like the HPF was attenuating the signal at all. All of those tones were from my RF 360.3 setup CD.

As far as the type of tweeters go I have no clue. Silk dome seems to be good for me but I don't really have enough experience to know any better. The metal tweets I've had in the past seemed too harsh but they were cheap. Hell, my Polk MM6501 tweets sounded too harsh and they were silk dome so really I don't know. The first set of tweeters that I've ever heard or owned that I actually liked were the ones that came with my Imagines.

Maybe I'll read it when I'm not at work, I was just thinking super tweets to match the mids our somewhere along that budget.

So how the hell could I find the port area and tuning for my old bazooka tube. The port is like a half moon shape so I have no clue what to do to find the area.

Post the measurement from corner to corner on the strait part as well as the measurement from the middle of the flat part to the highest point of the arch. I will calculate it for u

Herm, try to plot the area and make as many triangles as you can inside and get the area that way?

Not the best way to do it but it's doeable

Keeping mind polyfil doesn't just displace are. The idea is that when the fibers bend, a little bit of (acoustic) energy is converted to heat. Dunno about aerogel doing this. If you're bored you can look into adiabatic processes. :P time to experiment.

Looking for some distribution blocks that are 0/1 gauge in and out with two per block. Ones that don't have fuses or volt meters in them and ideally a plastic cover so I don't have to worry about anything touching it. Need them because I'm going to put in a second run of Wire

Sorta like this just the correct size
