Put a fuse holder as close to the battery as possible, and close to the amp.

I personally like to go low and see what pops and then get a fuse that doesn't pop to ensure maximum safety. I guess the best way with doing this is to also monitor clipping so you know that the fuse will pop only when clipped. Saves the subs but is a bit of work swapping fuses. Generally you will learn what clips and what doesnt.

Basically you would only need one fuse. If the battery fuse is bigger, you would only trip the amp fuse and the battery fuse would only pop if the Wire catches fire.

And how much for the 18" and what size box would it need? I would be going aero port to save room. I think I can fit 8 cubes behind the seats but would like to have a bit left for storage.

I've also heard ported boxes that sound peaky.
It's all about the implementation.

soooo who can explain to me how the hell this happened. sub up port back in a jeep cherokee a pair of aq hdc4 15" on a saz4500 in 7.5 cubic feet net with 3 6" aero ports tuned to 38ish hz peak crequency was 31hz......... he loves it and it sounds great its just kind of stumping me at the moment

My guess is tis magical thing called cabin gain. My Cherokee lover the slows.
But without hearing and seeing the set up your guess is as good as mine.

that is a little more extreme then cabin gain i even had him move the box 3" farther from the back hatch and it didnt change it

how much space is behind the aeros inside the box, turbulence might be changing the effective tuning on the enclosure. if it was something like tuned to 34 hz i wouldn't be terribly surprised by that. my mag peaked at just below its tuning iirc

its tuned at 38 peaks at 31 similar vehicle peaked at 43 tuned at 30 there is 5.25" from the port opening to the back wall which is more then enough for a 6" aero

no you need equivelant to the surface area of the port. the opening of the bell is about 8" so 4*4*3.14=50.24 circumfrence 8*3.14=25.12 and 50.24/25.12= 2 so as long as the port is farther then 2" from the wall and not up against the wall it will not add in port length

How close are the ports to the hatch? If theyre within say a ports width or less, the actual port length could be much more (and hence actual tuning much lower)

The hatch is definitely adding to the port length if it's within 5.25" of the ports.
Even if they're flared to 8". That doesn't really matter. The main thing is the mass of air in the hatch is in series with the ports. Hence lowering the tuning.
Open the hatch and measure the FR if you don't believe me. I bet it won't peat at 31Hz anymore.

Also as the port velocity goes up, the boundary layer increases, detunig the port. What does it peak at with only 1W?

i dont know on low Power but the ports were 8-10" from the hatch after we moved the box forward no change. port velocity should be fairly low with 3 6" aeros on 2 15" in 7.5 cubes dont have hdc4 t/s params but i think i will have to look them up

You heard a ****ty one. My parallel tuned 6th order had more bandwidth and was the loudest two 15s setup I've had let alone heard off the amount of power. Fallen knows WTF is up with enclosure designs and that build proved it.
