Great idea pro. Would I have cancelation issuses if I ran some eight inch subs in a sort of three way set up in my doors? I mainly want a solid low end off of just deck Power but nothing loud. My girl wants a little of bass but the twelve will be wayyyyyy to much for her. I have around 150 rms at 4 ohms to play with so some 8 ohm woofers would work. Would I have to turn them off when I want my twelve or would they've fine to leave on all the time?

why not just get a bass knob so you can turn the sub down when she's driving?

that seems like a better idea than having 2 seperate sub stages in the car.


PAC LC1 Universal Remote Level Control via RCA audio Interconnect that is what i suggest using for a bass knob

The twelve free air testing was to loud for her. I will have a bass knob but but even when there all the way down they still play. Should I just do both of there remotes on switches so I can shut one off and turn the other on?

not that i'm aware of, mdf is the standard for DENSE wood.

you could do that as well. honestly she'd probably be happy with just some good components with no hpf on them. I doubt you'd have to go 8's in the doors.

now if you wanted to put soem pro audio 8's in the doors and get some screaming mids then you could do that.

See loves the CDT comps I put in and loves the arc 8 I have in my truck but wants alittle more than what the comps and 6x9s are doing. After years I'm finally getting her into bass. Maybe just some 6 1/2 subs in the back doors?

i just feel like it would be too much of a pain and waste of money to do all that.

you should be able to set it up so the bass knob all the way down is enough bass for her man.... i mean in a 4th order its not like the sub is going to sound boomy or nasty.

oh yeah. forgot he had that in there...

bass boost knob ftw or just set the sub level to the lowest hu setting. if i set my sub level out from 0 - 15 it is a night and day difference

A jvc hd something. One of there top of the line. I really need some new 6x9s for better midbass in the back. I have some old Jensen ones that actually don't sound that bad for what they are.

I have a feeling I'm gonna be the one filling ut up with questions. Should change the title to konvicts questions. Here's another. When picking a test tone to set my gains which db should I use. I've heard people say a -3 or -5 but I don't know why. Any input?

As far as i know, the vast majority of music is between -3 and -9 db. Using a -3 db tone would give you a conservative gain setting, since very little is above the -3 mark. -5 or -6 are probably the most popular since they allow a little bit of clipping here and there on the much louder notes, but is also able to help make up some volume on things recorded more quietly, like mp3s

Got ya. And my head unit is a jvc kd-hdr60. 7 band eq. Independent sub control. Does everything I need and you can set it to so many pretty colors.

Another one here. Is the goal of sq competions to be completely flat? How are they judged? And at what spl level does your eyes start vibrating? Also what's the best way to work yourself to a sponsorship? Audio is my passion and I wanna take it farther than just my systems. I'm full of stoner questions so many are to come.

flat is a very subjective term. human hearing response is far from flat. look up the iasca sq judge score sheet and download the iasca sq cd. youll see for yourself what they are looking for.

according to my handy spl chart...eye ball vibration starts around 145, so say high 40s.

sponsor ships are being in the right place at the right time. get a nice build, show face at a ton of events, and whore yourself out to vendors.
