Default Amp fried

Riding down the road beatin out, heard a sizzle sound & subs ceased to bang. Output section fizzled. Ordered a new amp to replace my brz 1700. I ordered a brx 2016 yesterday. I'm excited now. Has anyone heard this amp perform?

I agree with you on that. I bought it used & beat that thing daily without fail. Got my $100 worth & had it a year. Sitting enclosed in a trunk in this St. Pete heat didn't help it either. O well new amp will be here Wednesday & all will be right with the world.

My electrical is good. My voltage never dropped below 12.8 with my stock 140 amp alt. Used amp my friend with much abuse. It happens though. Got a new one on the way.

i will say the hifonics amps dont like 12v daily....they get hot fast and will eventually let go if driven hard into the 12v range.....i would do some electrical upgrades to get the minimum into the 13v range

That's the other thing with amps - overheating so the chips may have been fine but no cool air to them.

I agree with you also. I did move the amp to a different location & I think that was part of the problem. I'm going to put the new one back in the original spot that I had it in.

The newer hifonics heatsinks suck compared to the older ones....the brz line had some of the beefyest ones in years but the boards just ran hot and as a result burned up in hot weather....I had my brz 1700 full tilt didn't drop below 13.5 v....tho they protect at 15.9v....mine was hot enough to melt a crayon on several occasions.... Less electrical and hot weather was its downfal

I ordered a brx 2016 & should have it by Wednesday. Does this line have less cooling efficiency than the brz line? Your right about the beefy heat sink on the brz though.
